As citizen of central European country with English as my second language (and I am far from good enough writer or speaker in English), I consider mistakes which are done by Zodiac as weird. At first I thought they may have been caused by something like him being dysgraphic and other mistakes seemed more like if he has foreign background.... but as much as I look at them, it seems they are not.

Lets just see spelling mistakes done in this letter and pick the letters up:
"ChristmasS" - S
"extreAm(E)ly" - A (missing E)
"dif(F)icult" - missing F
"ninEth" - E
"pos(S)ibly" - missing S
"victOm" - O instead of I
"drownDing" - D
"trig(G)er" - missing G
"controOl" - O

Is it possible that he made a mistakes throughout all his letters and that they might be one of "keys"? Note, that mistakes in "Belli" letter are contained mainly in middle part of the letter where he could easily wrote 9th and 10th.... but no, he wrote nineth instead of any other version of the same. Also - word control is written multiple time in thee same letter - only once with "mistake", other is written correctly. I also have to think about how he phrases some parts - why he wrote "wont" and then "can not" (which is not consistent and therefore interesting) instead of will not or cant.... Placement of mistakes in letter and which words contain these mistakes means something IMO. "Safe, sid go..." might have been message for someone.

Vasilios Basil Choulos -- colorful S.F. lawyer
By Peter Fimrite Published 4:00 am PST, Friday, March 21, 2003

Quote:
Known to most people as "Bill," he was Melvin Belli's law partner for 18 years until their famously acrimonious split in 1980. They practiced law together at a historic old brick building in North Beach that was decorated like a 19th century brothel, replete with ornate doorways and brass knobs.

His greatest passion, however, was protecting the disadvantaged from persecution and corporate irresponsibility.

Somehow, it seems that Z could have had some flood/rain/boat leakage whatever problems in real life during that time.

There was a lot of rain, some flood control discussions, strong surf ect. in eg. Oxnard during that time (including some 'swamp'). Nevertheless I still couldn't figure out (according to newspaper articles) what Z had actually referred to when writing this sentence. Anybody got some idea (based on 'facts')?

Is this an abbreviation (as used by Z)? There's no punctuation to indicate it. Is it a common term/short form? Do people say "the gun had a faulty trigger mech, so I bought a new one"?

In short, could it be significant to an extent? Indicating a particular occupation, perhaps - or a particular interest in guns, beyond what you'd call normal? The latter has been discussed many times - was Z a hunter, gun buff, someone who frequented shooting ranges, etc? Could his use of this term (if it IS a term and not just a written abbreviation - albeit without punctuation, as said already) be viewed in this light?

Just speculating.

This one is an article about 26 students who had climbed into trees to avoid them being put down as well as Zodiac having placed 13 calls during Jim Dunbar show, none of them to be traced (can't read it completely)
