Ricky, Robert, Betty Lou and Blue Cars

One of the most fascinating aspects of this case are the significant number of coincidental reports and statements.

In her statement, Mrs. Jensen states she believes Ricky Burton may be creeping around their house at night because she has found the gate unlocked. Betty's sister mentions Betty's comments about closing the windows, thinking Ricky is spying on her.

Betty's friend Brenda tells the police Ricky doesn't have any real friends and he spends a lot of time hanging out with his brother-in-law, who drives an older blue car with the paint falling off.

Then there is Robert. Robert contacts police because he thinks the murders were a case of mistaken identity. Robert believes he and his wife are being stalked by his wife's ex-boyfriend. They have made several reports of being followed/stalked by someone in a blue car, however the police can never catch the car. Robert drives a Rambler wagon similar to David Faraday's. His wife also knew Betty Lou and physically resembles her as well.

What are the odds that two women who knew each other, looked similar, and were with men who drove the same car were being stalked by two different people who drove/had access to blue cars? Or is it more likely there was one stalker who was stalking the wrong person?

This address is given as BLJ's..just noticed that it is really close to Hogan High. So is 864 Beechwood, Mike Mageau's address.

According to this, there should be no doubt that Z lived in that area / had ties to Hogan High.

Why didn't she circle the vehicle?

As I look at the sketches of the crime scene and the position of Betty Lou Jensens body in relation to the vehicle she was in I wonder why she chose to move in a straight pattern and not move and duck around the vehicle she was in. I'm in noway saying that would have saved her from the attack but most people tend to flee behind or around the closest form of cover especially during gun fire whether they are trained or not its a reaction. I know James Owen stated he saw a vehicle parked beside the faradays but I cant help but wonder if the reason she moved straight was because there was really a vehicle that pulled up right behind Faraday and she couldn't move around David's vehicle because she had to clear the one that pulled up behind them.

I'm reading a report on Reddit a report that talks about someone hearing about his daughter's death (Betty Lou) and calling home from Mare Island. Did her father work there?

Faraday - Zodiac Height

This is total conjecture based upon the Faraday autopsy, but I hypothesize that Zodiac was the same height the 5’ 8” David Faraday. According to the autopsy David was listed as 68” tall. He was shot behind his left ear. Here is the relevant information from the autopsy: https://web.archive.org/web/20130119063 ... topsy.html “bullet wound (3/16” diameter) of entry is seen penetrating the upper slight posterior area of the left ear and entering the scalp and skull bone beneath. The bullet follows a straight horizontal course but angling forward and to the right, going through the left temporal lobe. The base of the frontal lobes in the midline and inferior borders of the left frontal lobe and anterior margins of the left temporal lobe. The irregularly flattened bullet is recovered here.” I have bolded the most important part. If Zodiac was shorter than David, the trajectory of the bullet would be UP. If he was taller, the trajectory would be DOWN. However, the trajectory was horizontal (flat). That seems to indicate that Zodiac was approximately the same height as David. This is important as it aligns with most witness descriptions. As an aside, it would also indicate that the shooter was behind and to the left of David and shot him using his right hand. All that said, there are a lot of variables that could account for that trajectory including the position of David’s head, the way Zodiac held the gun in his hand, etc. But if facts are taken at mere face value, I think it leans toward David and Zodiac being approximately the same height (68”). As always, please fact check me and offer alternate ideas.

i was looking in this page https://www.zodiacciphers.com/lake-herman-murders.html (a good page i must say) and i really come to a problem. How faraday comes to the oposite side of car to a short distance from the killer? This is not trivial. If you are pointing a guns (after made some shoots in the car to force them to get out of it) its hardly to bealive that he let faraday come so close than could hit the gut out of the line of fire or start a fist fight. Zodiac force they to come out of the car, or they get out of the car with out a shoot, and then the killer take the gun from the holster and shoot faraday without warnig and after all of this shoot the car. I see the position of the shells, the bodie that colapse in the place and the relative narrow space frmo the position is supossed for the killer car... something not fit to me if they dont walk by their self until to be in same side of the car all in a very close range. In the reports, the car was turn off then cops cate the scene? lights turn off? i dont remember, mybe someone could refresh my memory.

What Only The Zodiac and the Police Knew

Did Zodiac really have any unique information about the Lake Herman Road murders? The number of slugs (10) was noted in newspaper articles at the time. The direction the victims faced was noted on police diagrams of the crime scene with compass directions superimposed. The same information might have been known by persons who saw the crime scene and discussed it locally. The type of ammunition was in police reports. Again, this would be difficult to know, but in the course of the investigation who is to say that information didn't get out or wasn't discussed in law enforcement circles. Sometimes I look at the four events and think you can group the first two together and the last two together and that there is some bridge between those two sets of murders that nobody has hit on. If that is the case I think so much time has gone by there is almost zero chance the case will ever be solved.
