Let’s just say, it was very, very weird. I was interviewing him in a filthy hotel room, or some apartment he lived in, or at least it was somebody claiming to be him, and that he had faked his own death. Just very odd stuff, and at some point, I realized I was dreaming, and woke myself up

Must be the weather and or season for Z-dreams.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

It’s odd, I haven’t really been thinking about Fred lately, and his thread is a bit cool-maybe it’s a sign?

No dreams about Ross yet.

This isn’t the first time I have dreamed about the case, I have awaken in the middle of the night and jumped out of bed to write myself notes about stuff, crazy isn’t it?

I’m no psychoanalyst but maybe the dream is your subconscious telling you you’re neglecting Manalli. You could be feeling guilt about hiring a PI to find out info on Sullivan, when you used to be so hot on Manalli. I can’t shake Manalli being involved either, but he doesn’t look remotely like either composite or and description.

Speaking of dreams, I have a recurring one where I run out of the house on PH across the street from Stine murder crime scene and I see Z but only his shoes. All I have to do is lift my head to see his face, but I’m petrified with fear. I’ve had that dream a few times. Maybe I should start a "Z dreams" thread.

Who knows, maybe your analysis of my dream is right on? It sounds plausible. I do really like Fred as a Suspect, despite the looks and height possibly hindering a connection, but his writings, subject matter, etc, all mirror zodiac, and that personal ad the day after he died, that’s hard to ignore.

Who knows, maybe I will one day have a dream that Manalli & Sullivan were working together, that would be a doozy. :|

Fred is still up there in my top 3 Suspects, and I would love to learn more about him. Maybe if Ross doesn’t pan out, we can take a look at the Investigator checking out Fred!

Seriously, a PI could be usefull in searching a possible connection with any other POI examined over the years. If we are to believe that ad than there were three people involved, with Manalli handling the letter writing aspect.

Or 2. OR, Manalli could have placed the ad himself?

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Assuming that we take the ad to be entirely literal: the Zodiac’s partner is dead or in trouble…it begs the question for how the writer would know this information, while the Zodiac himself apparently does not.

If Manalli really was working with Zodiac it is the most plausible scenario that he wrote the letter himself to let Zodiac know that he was planning on committing suicide by purposely crashing his car.

On the other hand it could also have been written by someone who was suspicious of Manalli, but did not know who the Zodiac was, or may not have even been sure that there was more than one person involved. He could’ve written that letter to see if Zodiac or anyone responded. That sounds like something LE would do, but I think we’d know it if that was the situation.

Any of these scenarios is very interesting. Of course, it could be a huge coincidence, but man-what timing!

I think Manalli could have written it too, but I said three were involved because the writer mentions an imperial wizard.

Just read the ad again and noticed the R. A. at the end. Any ideas on that? Is it supposed to be the initials of the imperial wizzard or someone else all together. They’re not Manalli’s initials. Anyone think it’s possible Graysmith could have placed the ad to reinforce the connection he made with manalli and ALA?
