I bet the prisoners loved that! Free acid!

As someone who has taken LSD at Glastonbury music festival, trust me when I say the last place you would want to be tripping your face off on acid is a brutal prison like San Quentin, whether you were a prisoner or prison worker.

So what was Manalli doing at San Q? Teaching English to convicts? And was the LSD administered as part of MK-Ultra? I read about the CIA's LSD sexhouses recently, and there was one of these in San Fran: http://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti ... 223346.php I have sometimes wondered if there were so many crazy murderers and the like in California and other places in the late 60s and 70s as a result of people being drugged by the CIA and becoming messed up on them. I once knew someone who has lost it on acid, he did it once, a massive dose, and it messed his brain up and he never recovered. This is rare, because usually people only take smaller doses, but the mind control program was regularly using large doses (AFAIR). Yeah, I know, I'll put my tinfoil hat back on now to stop all the mind control rays!

Thanks for posting that link. I have done a ton of research on MK Ultra (and I believe Manalli wrote the zodiac letters and later became the Santa Rose Hitchhiker killer) but I have not heard of these sex houses. I know there was a hospital in Oakland that had MK Ultra testing being done in the late 60's. One of the many theories I have is that "Zodiac" was just a character created to cover up and draw attention away from other crimes. It's possible that a test subject (or more than one) was sent out to do the killing. I know that is a long shot, but who knows. And don't forget that Ted Kaczynski was an MK Ultra test subject while he was at Harvard so the CIA could have had him involved in some way. Maybe he is responsible for the ciphers.

I also have a friend that fried his brain on acid, but he did it a lot of times and not just once. On the other hand, I have friends that have ton a lot of it and you wouldn't even know it. I have done my fair share and everyone here knows I am perfectly normal

I wonder exactly what kind of painting. Splashing would imply large amounts of paint (larger than oils or watercolors). Possibly this little creative aside was inspired by the centrifugal stuff which would require large amounts of paint of a certain viscosity.

Speculation I know but splashing around with paint in 1966. Wonder if he kept his watch on. Wonder if he used cheap exterior paint. Wonder if he had a watch lol.

This shows use of language similar to Zodiac. "Please help me" and also "You will notice "(from the letter concerning the pencel (sic) flashlight).

Those are incidental though. The important bit is that 's' on the end of 'this' and 'was'. I think that's the only instance that Zodiac does that because when I spotted in Manalli's writing I immediately knew I'd seen it before and that means I must have made a note of it in my head as unique and therefore something to keep an eye out for.
