Hi there, I have a few questions if anyone has time.
1) I don’t believe it is known how much Ross weighed between 1959 and the mid 1970s, is that correct?
2) Was Ross ever able to hold down a job?
3) I have heard that he was known to write poetry. Is there anything else about his activities that was known?
4) Has a driver’s license ever been discovered?
Thanks

Hey Druzer.

1) Ross was described as ‘fat’ in high school in the pics that we have seen of him. Fat? Really? He does not look fat to me at all, stocky maybe. Not known about his weight in HS

2)Ross had menial jobs we are assuming, but he’s been hard to nail down

3)He did write poetry, we don’t know what kind besides the library staff being freaked out by his poems

4)No driver’s license found

Just to add to Morf’s post about menial jobs. We know he worked in the library at RCC at the time Cheri was killed. I was able to find a 1968 city directory for Santa Cruz that listed him as working in food service at the university. This is also posted in the locked timeline thread for Ross.

Thanks Morf and Seagull, I knew I could get some quick answers here. I wouldn’t disqualify Ross on weight without seeing a more contemporary photograph. For me he remains an interesting suspect.

Feather here,

For those of you that have Find-A-Grave, here is where some of the Sullivans
are buried:

https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.c … 5&ref=acom

Ross is mentioned, but no other sons. I’m looking for Tim Sullivan.

I wonder if anybody ever tracked down the school publication with Ross’ poem in it? One would think that the school would still have in its archives the magazines from the time period that Ross was enrolled. That kind of material should be publicly available.

The poem would obviously not give a handwriting sample as it would be typed, but it would be interesting to see how the theme and language used compares with the desktop poem (or Zodiac’s letters).

I briefly took a run at getting this but realized it was going to be quite an uphill battle

Mike: Did RCC throw up legal roadblocks to your getting the info you requested? I queried the college re my "POI" attending RCC in Fall of 1966. and got stonewalled.

Yes, I got the whole "due to privacy laws" spiel. I think I could have paid a researcher to go to the RCC library and weed thru books, old newspapers, yearbooks, etc, but it could have been time consuming and expensive and may or may not have produced anything of value

Fingers crossed, over the next few months, there may be some new stuff finally coming to light about Ross- can’t say much right now, but perhaps, the biggest light shined on him yet. Let’s wait and see. ;)

Did anyone have knowledge that Sullivan was performing as an actor in some kind of movie in which he played a murderer? One of the things that I didn’t know about until it showed up
in the Zodiac episode on the History channel. Did anyone catch the date and the city?

On the show they said it was 1966, 1959 makes a big difference.

*UPDATE* Ross acted in a student film in 1959.
The film was shot in downtown LA and Ross was the lead.

Hopefully the footage still exists.
The other filmmakers might be a great resource to find out more info on Ross.

I realize this is an old post from 2014. Was it ever determined if the 30 min 16mm film has survived in the hands of any members of the crew? Additionally, it’s mentioned in the article the film was synced with sound. If so, has a recording of Ross’ voice survived and has the audio recording been shared with victim Bryan Hartnell to listen to?

Silliphant was unable to locate the film. It is assumed lost/destroyed.
