Full name Ralph Jerome Von Braun Selz, however if you just enter first & last name on google the links will come up. I’m not very techy! Convicted of murder, in and out of prisons, protected by our Canadian Government to parole boards. He worked on cars. Was in the Canadian Army, the U.S found out and brought him back to Calif. No one know his fate, no death record. It seems as he disappeared off the face of the earth. He showed off in front of the press. Have actually walked into San Francisco Chronicle looking for attention etc. The press named him the Laughing Killer. Photos of him with his lawyer Wainright resemble Zodiac sketch imo. Probably too old to be zodiac nevertheless a cruel and sick individual. Pretty interesting but gives me the chills!

I see that the Kennedy library in Vallejo has a searchable database of newspapers that is accessible by California residents only. I've tried to purchase private access to the database, but I struck out there. If anybody has access to the Newsbank.com database through California libraries I would be happy to pay for you to do a quick search of a couple names.

Quote: Tom Voigt: "Both the Riverside confession and Zodiac's letter use the word "twitch" and misspell it as "twich" but let's ignore that because Zodiac didn't use the word "die". Unfortunately Voigt you are wrong again, it was "twiched" - can't you read. If you are the arbiter of facts for the whole Zodiac community Voigt, maybe you can correct the February 14th 1974 attribution you have for the SLA letter on your site, or are you incapable of reading the FBI files detailing the postmark. Do you understand the difference between "received at the Chronicle" and the postmark date. Do you believe in "Just the Facts" only when it suits. Maybe you should correct the order of your July 31st ciphers. Or maybe stop peddling lies about somebody admitting to hoaxing the Pines card, when I have twice corrected you. Would you like me to continue. Until you have everything correct on your site, why don't you act like a mature individual and accept even you have flaws. I am pointing this out, so brown nose sycophants like VT Squire, who, incidentally, has never made a mistake, starts growing a pair and challenges you on your errors, rather than just everybody else - something he will never do. Why don't you mention me colouring in photographs for the 100th time, or are you incapable of changing the record. You are a boring, repetetive individual, who seemingly has never made a mistake in his life. It is about time you grew up and dropped the playground histrionics, designed exclusively for the brown-nosers on your forum. Insulting people incessantly and running them down in order to boost your own self-importance, just goes to show what an insecure individual you really are. I know none of what I have said will make a difference, because you seem incapable of self-reflection. Shame really. So carry on playing up to the schoolchildren on your forum.

Quote Tom Voigt: "This is a recent find of mine that I am particularly proud of. Did you know there was an escape from Deer Lodge Prison in Montana just days prior to the Zodiac's Lake Berryessa attack of Sept. 27, 1969?"Bullshit. This was discovered years ago (2013 or before). More errors by you.

Quote Tom Voigt on November 24th 2021: "Grinnell is basing this on the notion that the Belli letter had never ever been reproduced in the media prior to the 1978 letter arriving. Which, of course, is nonsense". This coming from a man who complains Redditors can't spell names. The hypocrisy is staggering.

Quote Tom Voigt November 28th 2021: "The Belli letter (at least the top part) was definitely published prior to 1978. I'll keep an eye out for an example". I'm still waiting.

It is a musical using the characters in Don Quixote (pictured on the Dragon card). The musical debuted in 1965, Tony Award winner in 1966, started on Broadway proper in 1968, movie version: 1972.

I'm curious if productions of Man of La Mancha played in SF area in the Zodiac years. If so, where? In more general terms, was musical fan Zodiac aware of Man of La Mancha? Is this why Don Quixote was on his mind?

So I haven't read up on all the threads in reference to Zodiac having possibly served in Vietnam, but I happened on a interesting branch of the Air Force during the early 60's to early 70's.

It only caught my attention because of the name of this branch and what they did...

They were called "Ranch Hands" and their call sign was "Cowboy". They sprayed the chemical agents (agent orange) at the time.

https://www.airforcemag.com/article/0800ranch/

That is the way it was for the men of Operation Ranch Hand, the Air Force’s long-running campaign to defoliate jungles and, in so doing, deprive the Communist forces of concealment cover and food supplies. Ranch Handers had the hot, smelly, and dangerous job of spraying chemical herbicides over large expanses with maximum enemy presence and minimum protection.

The basis for Ranch Hand was simple. Americans fighting in the field wanted the jungle growth stripped from camp perimeters, lines of communication, and the Ho Chi Minh Trail, to better prevent ambushes by exposing the endless flow of North Vietnamese infiltrators and assisting in their destruction. Under the call sign “Cowboy,” Ranch Hand aircraft met these demands day after day by plunging into heavy gunfire over enemy-held terrain. Their hard work saved the lives of many US and South Vietnamese troops.

Statistics give some measure of the effort exerted by the force. Between 1962 and 1971, Ranch Hand operators flew many thousands of sorties and sprayed more than 9,000 square miles of terrain. They delivered some 19 million gallons of herbicide, 11 million of which were Agent Orange, the controversial defoliant that has been the subject of numerous inquiries

So the ranch thing has always been a personal connection for me to the symbols as I think they are barnds, but the cowboy part (Tim holt comic) and the Air Force (wingwalkers) being coincidence with it seems like something to look at if it hasn't already.

Possible connection to Zodiac having problems from breathing chemical agents while spraying in Vietnam?

Anywho....just found some coincidence with it all.

The Zodiac has a need to communicate which explains why he calls and writes. He can't keep it in. So stopping communicating or weaning off is something that would take a lot of will to do. Most of us can't help but comment on Zodiac forums. He was another level of need entirely.

His encounter with Hartnell talking with him must have been a very interesting moment. Here he gets to actually tell someone stuff and so includes that he killed a prison guard and escaped a prison. He has a good old chat with Bryan. Most offenders would be telling their targets to shut up in case they start to sympathize with them.

So following on from that I do have to wonder if Stine wasn't also selected so this time he could have a real chat about who he was, what he had done and to vent it all out on a listener before murdering them. Taxi drivers as a selection for a conversation with a stranger makes sense in that hypothesis. This is not mutually exclusive with obtaining a shirt piece or boasting about it in letters.

If Zodiac had found a new way to communicate would that not explain why the need for letter writing decreases after 1970? If so how is he managing to carry out these chats with people and yet remain elusive?

Which leads me to the think the SRHM crimes could be that. Abducts, takes them somewhere, tells them who he is, what he has done, has a conversation about it all and then after a few days, kills them. No need for communications and letters and calls to law enforcement.

It wouldn't surprise me either if he managed to find some hooker and would say something like, "Hey you know what my kink is? I like to pretend I am the Zodiac. Here is my hood". Or even a girlfriend/wife willing to entertain that fantasy play which isn't.

I think it was Ted Bundy's girlfriend who would wake up in the middle of the night only to find Ted with a flashlight on under the covers looking at her naked body.

And before thinking there is no possible way a woman would put up with such things, all you have to do is read about the women who visit serial killers, get married, have conjugal visits and are enthralled by the stories they tell them about their crimes which aren't even make believe, but the real thing.

So did the Zodiac evolve his communication to in person one on one face to face? Is that how he let it all out?

Furthermore the absence of a letter describing his Lake Berryessa crimes may be because his chat with Hartnell was sufficient to satisfy some part of that urge at least for awhile.
