Thanks Mr. Lowe. I think it’s extremely likely the creator of the video photoshopped those images (removing the Zodiac-added elements from the card). Hard to know for sure without a good source.
yup it looks like it. its not a bad photoshop job, the white around the tree knot is i think the give away.
So the jury is out as to whether or not there was an eye in the tree knot to begin with?

I would say it remains unknown until someone can find a true example of the original card.
I agree with doranchak – probably photoshopped.
My reason – I think it likely that the original card had a spider depicted
sitting in the corner of the web.
Can’t remember if this was my original thought or if I saw it on some
other website.
I am certain the front of the card without the pumpkin has been shown on one of the old TV clips, but as yet haven’t found it.

Here’s an image of the front without the pumpkin:

But I don’t yet know the original source for that photo.

that is from the video i posted up the other day? it mentions "and here is the skeleton with the pumkin removed" did LE remove it. it does have the 14 in the hand.
if they did remove it they certainly did it without too much damage, or any damage has been photoshopped.
I wonder what type of paper the pumpkin and skeleton were cut from? Perhaps if it was card stock then it came from other Gibson cards? Or other greeting cards as well?? Does anyone know if they were hand drawn or just cut from something else??
Something that might be interesting …. the company that Graysmith lists is Gibson Card Co. In the 1960’s the company changed it’s name from Gibson Greetings, Inc. to Gibson Greeting CARDS, Inc. I’d LOVE to see the BACK of that card with the companies stamp on it to see which name is listed. Might give us an idea of when Z got his hands on the card. Yes??
A few images of the halloween card appear in the newer FBI files that Morf dug up. The pumpkin is not present, and the image of the inside of the card is unusually outlined:
The outlined one is WEIRD. Something I have never seen before. It almost looks like a tracing ….. ??? I can’t imagine how that one came to be. Was there a pic of the back with the companies stamp on it? Or any explanation given for the outlined version?
