I’ve not said this before, mostly, because I can’t pinpoint or say precisely where I’ve seen it. But I’ve seen the Halloween card before and I’ve seen the one where the writing says "Shake, Rattle and Roll". I’ve tried using the feelings (or remembrance of the cards) to see if I could locate it but haven’t been successful. Anyway, what comes to mind, is school. Today, most kids sell candy bars or popcorn to raise money. Back in the day they used to have small catalogs, maybe 3 or 4 pages, that you could order just about anything. I remember my grandmother purchasing glass canisters and salt and pepper shakers. So schools have really downgraded what kids could sell to raise money. I don’t remember the cards being associated to that. That’s just an example to get you old timers thinking. What I remember associated with the cards was again, a scholastic catalog, newsprint form that was about 3 to 6 pages in length. You could sell from it too (if I remember correctly) and buy for yourself. I remember buying all kinds of things from this book: books, stickers, cards, you name it and it was for all seasons. I remember halloween and buying halloween items. I don’t specifically remember buying halloween cards. Maybe what I remember is the cards being advertised. It could also be that these cards came in kids halloween card sets that were given out in class; secret pal is a dead giveaway for that in my opinion. Anyway that’s all I can remember.
Note: I believe I remember this being a monthly or quarterly publication for kids that was given out in classrooms.
Opinion here: forget trying to locate anything produced by someone foreign or from someplace out of u.s. The zodiac was a "choose America or choose American" kind of guy.

Tends to confirm what Soze said.

I remember as a kid handing out valentines and I remember handing out halloween cards; all during parties at school. Oddly, I don’t ever remember handing out Christmas cards. This is elementary school though. I can’t ever remember doing this in middle school or beyond. I also don’t remember ever thumbing through a scholastic catalog of any kind outside of elementary school. Below is a 1980ish version of the order form from the type of publication I spoke of earlier. May not be from the same company. As you can see from the flyer there are books and stickers. I remember cards and games from this type of publication as well. Can’t find a full publication from the 70s yet.
This is what it would have looked like originally (edited)

Is this just the opinion of the guy that runs the linked website and Graysmith?
