barking about 10 minutes apart, right? Parking doesn’t make sense there…
Zodiac was on foot, so he was referring to the 2 groups of law enforcement parked up at Arguello Boulevard and the police dogs by Julius Khan playground. These two positions were visible to him from his position in the park opposite Laurel Street. These two positions are approximately 10 minutes apart walking distance.

I always took it to be barking as well. If you read the letter he states.
The dogs never came with in 2 blocks of me + they were to the west + there was only 2 groups of (barking) about 10 mins apart then the motor cicles went by about 150 ft away going from south to north west.
It’s all in the same sentence and he links the information with + symbols so it’s all related to the same thing – ie the sound of the dogs. Pretty much everything he mentions in that section of the letter appears to based on what he can hear.
I do think that the wrote (parking) though and then crudely amended it.
The Zodiac’s description of fire trucks masking the sound of the motorcycle officers is interesting. From what I’ve read there was a single fire truck, not to mask the sound of the motorcycles but because it had a spotlight which was used in the search. Did Zodiac miss the fact there was a spotlight because he wasn’t there to see it? Did he hear the truck well enough to recognize it as a fire engine but it was not near him and he didn’t see the light?
