Has anybody considered that the 3 8 balls could be the clue. Z references billard players in later letters. At the time one of the best ever 3 cushion billiard players (Jay Bozeman) lived in Vallejo and was friends with Dean Ferrins father (Art) and played Bridge with him every week in Napa a block away from where the Napa phonecall took place.. The Zodiac was a billiard cue at the time (made by dufferin), the crosshairs symbol is also used in billiards to show where on the cue ball you should hit it to imply different types of spin. Even the Halloween card symbols could be a 3 cushion trick shot.

I did notice that the two letters contained within the walls are K and M , switch them and you have MK which phonetically is Mike.
Also I forgot to mention that in the newspapers just before zodiac started to quote the Mikado there was an article about bridge which was a parody of “the little list”.
