I was looking through the photos of the various envelopes used by Z and noticed some visible writing through one of the envelopes. I assumed it was the envelope used to send the Red Phantom letter, but it appears that the Red Phantom letter was sent in a different envelope.
Has this already been discussed? If so, I apologize.
Here is the envelope in question-(the words are fairly clear, and it is the same text as the RP letter)
Here is the original image-
and a photo of the envelope that has been identified as having accompanied the Red Phantom letter.
Anyone have any thoughts about this?

…the text appears to be the July 8th 1974 letter as words appear to be similar (‘refer’, ‘Count’, ‘psychological’ etc.).
Still wondering why there are two envelopes..

I believe that top envelope is what the SLA letter came in.

No doubt that IS the Feb 14, 1974 SLA letter envelope.
The SLA letter was sent aprox 5 months prior to the Count Marco letter.
SO… IF this is really a fact, that there are traces of the Count Marco letter writing on the SLA enevlope then Zodiac apparently had written that CM letter 5 months in advance of him sending it!
It would also establish that the SLA and the CM letter was produced by the same person.
And due to that the handwriting of address on the SLA envelope indeed is a match for the Zodiac handwriting, well it seems like it´s kind of safe to say that Zodiac did write the SLA, the CM letters, which some Z reseachers have doubted.
It would also IMO establish that Zodiac indeed was playing/enjoyning using VERY different handwriting styles.
This is VERY interesting IMO!!!

May I ask you; where did you get the copy of the envelope in question? I mean it had to be a high reselution copy of that envelope to do what you did, and I havent seen any such highreselution copy of that envelope anywere.
So could you please tell us some more details on how you found this envelope and what technic you used to get thise traces of the CB writing to appear on the envelope?
thanks in advance.

I am fairly certain this was the copy I saved from T.V.’s website. I was looking through all the different images of the envelopes, most of which have really terrible resolution and color. This one was not as nice as some of the other scans, but I thought I detected some kind of writing visible.
To enhance the image I just increased the saturation levels of the image, and then adjusted the brightness and contrast. I had to flip the image horizontally to read the text. If that hadn’t worked I would have probably applied a bas relief effect, or embossing effect to the image.
I am also curious why the envelope has not been postmarked.
I am puzzling over the possible scenarios to explain the presence of the writing, but I haven’t come up with anything yet.

I think this is just something funky happening when copying and enhancing, etc.
I still doubt Zodiac wrote either of those letters, but it wouldn’t surprise me if someone from the SLA did.
We also have the possibility the Red Phantom letter is one that didn’t pass the saliva/dna deal.
