Puts into perspective the athleticism required for Bennallack’s killer to scale into her apartment. I doubt it was some schlub like ALA.
Probably…..But I’ve heard (And cannot recall where at this time) there was an easy way to climb up to the second level at that time. It was either some type of power box, gas meter etc.; however again, I do not know if it was next to her actual balcony fence or on the church side of the fence. There is fencing that separate all lower-level rear patios. IIRC, there is also a tree that is currently in front of the balcony and I do not know if it was there back then. Given the design of the fence, one would not have had to jump off the balcony, rather just climb over, step on a cross bar and either side step to climb down to the church side or go directly over; hang and drop to the lower level apartment. If you zoom in closer, the balcony is not that high from the ground. Myself being 6’3" the top of my head maybe had about a foot from the bottom of the balcony frame. Also don’t forget, they found bandaging from a wrapped finger on top of the balcony railing, so that leads me to believe he did the hang and drop.
I cannot get Googlemaps in close enough. I’ll go out there by the end of the week and snap more photos if I cannot find my originals. I want to check out Hakari’s Apt.

To me it suggests a fair amount of athleticism and stealthiness. The kind someone with LE or military training would have. And the kind of stealthiness Zodiac exhibited when he escaped from the Paul Stine crime scene.
Can be seen here, this is an official crime scene photo :-
He climbed over the fence, then used to Gas meter to get up to the balcony.
This was the view from NB’s balcony ;-
Lastly this is a Topo view from 1966 (Sorry about the quality):-
It looks like a fair bit of clambering and jumping. LE or military training, or a sports background, would definitely help.
I should correct myself that even though ALA was a big guy, he had military training so could have done it (not that I think ALA was Zodiac).
AAAH, great find Cragle. Anyone who is not too over-weight could have climbed up and strategically down.
I wonder what we can make of the canvas laundry bag that was found being manufactured specifically for the San Joaquin School District and "Detectives later revealed that they also recovered two hand-ripped strips of a Cannon-brand ribbed towel from the back seat. The towels were commonly used in “institutions having a large number of showers,” like school gyms and health clubs." https://prettydeathseller.com/2018/08/26/who-killed-judith-hakari/
This sounds like a HUGE clue to me! I wonder how much it has been looked into?
Also, does anyone know the name of the landowner where Hakari’s body was found?

Interestingly their was a Hospital supplies business right by the crime scenes.
Cragle, sorry I’m not sure I understand about "Interestingly their was a Hospital supplies business right by the crime scenes"? Do you mean you think it was somehow connected to the hospital or that is where the towels and laundry bag came from?
Do you know anything about how much the police looked in the San Joaquin school district connection? Such was the school district only one to have the laundry bags since it was made specifically for them? Do we know the specific dates they were manufactured.
And excuse my ignorance on the subject, but who would have had access to these laundry bags? Is that something that was given to students or just available for staff?
Thanks!! Really interesting stuff.

According to the article above, Zodiac is not considered a suspect in Hakari’s murder.
"The Zodiac killer was believed to have been involved in Hakari’s murder but according to Links, that was also ruled out."
The Links is "Micki Links, a retired sergeant with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. Links, who now helps the Homicide Cold Case Team…"

Wait a minute, how do they know? Do they have workable Zodiac DNA?
I don’t know how they know, but if LE is saying he’s not a suspect, then I’d believe them.
There must be something that eliminated him.

Here lies the crux of the issue, Micki Links has stated numerous times that she believes that the NB and JAH attacks were connected. As we all know they are numerous rumours abound that Zodiac was connected to the NB attack, whether this was directly or simply referencing it in correspondence we can only speculate. It’s the Riverside situation again, they refuse to accept any links to the Zodiac case.
Personally I do not lean either way, maybe it was or maybe it wasn’t, I put the information out there for people to decide on their own. I only wrote the facts of the case in the thread but unfortunately information is difficult to obtain.
The one question I always ask myself though is that if Zodiac had not admitted responsibility for the Stine attack would / could it have ever been attributed to him ?
As frustrating as it is, sometimes we as amateur researchers need to accept that law enforcement is privy to more information than we are.
For a case that is over 50 years old, I personally think that is silly and it is time to release EVERY shred of info and all the details about the Zodiac case. What does LE have to lose at this point?
Nevertheless, we have to assume that there are secrets being kept from us and that we don’t know the whole story.
To answer your last question: nope, LE would have assumed it was just another cabbie robbery turned homicide. The thing is though, every crime Zodiac committed, he wanted credit for it. Even some crimes he didn’t commit, he wanted credit. I believe if Zodiac killed Hakari or Bennallack or anyone else, he’d make sure we knew about it.

The symmetry in some of the victim’s names strikes me! My poi was quite fond of it which I attributed in part to his having studied classical piano. His maternal grandmother was also an artist so he was appreciative of art forms such as painting and sculpture.
He worked with a city police dept. on their "automated traffic records system" back in the 1970s and I saw the big computer printouts bound together listing driver’s names and other information. The police had hired the accounting firm my boyfriend worked for and he was sent there as a consultant and was having trouble with the programming of this project.
Even "Hakari" is interesting to me with the "a"’s on either side of the "k". He would often point out things like this to me. Once we got into a discussion re. obsessive-compulsive disorder and I remember telling him I wondered if I had a touch of it when I’d wonder if I’d forgotten to turn out lights or lock the doors and needed to go back to check. I recall his telling me he thought he had it because if there was one of something he needed there to be another so it would make two. We laughed and he named several cities that were on the east coast as well as the west.

Agreed but I can understand why they keep information back
Nevertheless, we have to assume that there are secrets being kept from us and that we don’t know the whole story.
Recently I recall Tom V saying that we have only seen about 1% of the evidence. Perhaps it was said in jest but it does beg the question how much more information is out there in evidence rooms and archives.

Possibly so but I’m still keeping an open mind, especially when you consider that the next known letter after the Hakari murder had the sign off "PS I hope you have fun trying to figgure out who I killed", and then on the 28th April 3 Days after her body was found we have the dragon card which features two mining prospectors. Hakari was obviously found at the site of an old mine.
