If you have been following the Martha Smith topic you may have come across the mention of another homicide in the SF Examiner Mar 16th 1996 article, that of Mrs. Kathleen Kirchgessner.

Martha Smith -> viewtopic.php?f=37&t=4958

Martha Smith was the second slaying in 1966 in San Francisco to be noted by this paper. They seem to link them up by similar circumstances. I don’t know if there is any ‘official link’.

Here are the articles I can find about her. Interestingly she was buried in Napa.

Looking up her apartment, that’s in pretty heavy Z territory. Not far from the mailbox with an intercepted letter. I’m very interested here.

Her apartment (2701 Van Ness) was 2 blocks from a mailbox where LE intercepted one letter (Van Ness and Union intersection).

Also, the big downtown Woolworth department store was across the street from the Bank of California/Bank of America world headquarters in 1966, before it moved into the Financial District in 1969. It would be interesting to know if she worked at that location.

Apparently there was a Lloyd Kirchgessner who operated a service station in Vallejo on Springs Road, not too far from one of the pay phones. Ancestry short bio indicates he lived in Solano, Calif. Unknown if related. Does not appear to be a brother. Mentioned in the linked thread:

Okay, so Lloyd K ran a Shell station in Vallejo.

Kathleen’s brother Larry (Lawrence) ran a Shell station in Washington.

Interesting.
