Thanks for clarifying. I’m going to assume they looked into Bundy for Zodiac when he was captured but easily ruled him out based on alibi. Bundy was a master of disguise and wasn’t a bad match for the composites.

Bana wasn’t killed by John McClain, he was in prison.

Bana was killed in May 1978 John McClain was paroled in August 1978
He served 8 years at the State Correctional Institute at Tehachapi for raping
two 11 year old girls in Ventura.

One of McClains accomplices in the murders was his 18 year old nephew, Theodore Willis.
his trial was set for Sept 7, 1980 but I’ havent been able to find the outcome of that trial.
2 months prior to the murders, Willis was released from a juvenile detention facility in Nevada, to
his "convicted felon" uncles custody.

the third accomplice was a 16 year old mentally retarded juvenile . He is the one that
led investigators to Joni Kelley’s body

with a 1980 filter, you’ll find it all

Apparently there was a suspect for Shiri-Dine’s murder and it wasn’t Zodiac. The man was about 20 years old when allegedly he committed the murder and live across the street from Shiri-Dine. He had a tattoo. He was also thought to have killed a 15 year old runaway named Andrea Remmington. Her body was found about a half mile from where Shiri-Dine was found.

There’s probably enough information in this article to glean a bit more information about the suspect.

Thanks for the address, QT. I knew she was at 260 American Canyon Road but did not know the space number where she lived. Since we now know she lived at space 4 it will probably be a little easier to track down the guy.

This is from the 1980 Vallejo City Directory. Space 4 says "no return" which means that someone lived there but did not respond to the canvassers. Usually odd numbers are on one side of the street and even numbers on the other side. Since the article does not say the suspect lived directly across the street we should probably look at all the people who lived in odd numbered spaces that would have reasonably been in the sight line of space 4. The guy lived with his mother so it would likely be in her name.

There are apartment buildings everywhere around so potentially 50 neighbors, I guess. But only one of them with a killer, then living in Arizona. No doubt on the latter two as a fact.
