how?
[i]Weekly editorial meetings at the Vallejo Times Herald during the entire time he worked at the nearby Martinez newspaper. Plus covering stories around the general area, including the jail break at Lake Berryessa.
didn’t know that. Thanks Tom!
re Gaik- I believe he is the only suspect that could be described as having dark oily/curly hair-which the victim at the lake said he saw beneath the mask? that ones always thrown me a loop.

zode has dark curly hair.
ALA is still a viable suspect…….
How? His handwriting didn’t match. His fingerprints didn’t match. His name was brought up in the case by someone who clearly seeked vengeance against him and kept inventing things so Allen remained a suspect. Many so-called pieces of evidence against Allen were made up by Graysmith in his book so it could sell more. Not a good suspect to me.
ALA ruled out (DNA).

Afaik the 2002 DNA sample hasn’t ruled anyone out since it was not retreived from the back of the stamp (could’ve belonged to anyone who handled the letter). If they had a real Zodiac DNA sample they would’ve used gedmatch already and solved the case. There’s a thread about the 2002 dna sample at Tom’s site.
In the meantime, why not run what they obtained off the front of the stamp through Gedmatch?
Or did they not get a profile?
There seems to be very little DNA matter on that stamp, hence the fact that they have to wait for more advanced sampling methods to run comparisons.
Wait a second – unless I’m mixed up, there was enough DNA to initially eliminate Allen and Kjell Qvale.
Don’t know. In my mind, Allen was cleared on the basis that his fingerprints and writing didn’t match, I’m really not sure about DNA.
Yeah they had enough DNA to exclude Allen back then. Until they figured out it was from the wrong side of the stamp. But why not run that baby? What’s there to lose?
"partial DNA fingerprint from a male individual who — at some time — has had contact with the stamp"
where did you get anything from wrong side of the stamp?

Allen is cleared for Z like a white shirt…he might not be for the Santa Rosa killings or scalping squirrels, but he is for being Z.

Pretty sure there was an announcement in January re the ‘lab work’ that put all suspects back in play.
I believe it was mentioned that the lab was unsuccessful behind the stamp and on the seals, and what they did come up with was from the front of the stamp/and or envelope and had been likely handled by multiple people.
This was before Gedmatch – still, why not sequence what they do have and run it?
Because they have a very very little quantity of DNA matter is why. It was said in the show that was broadcasted late last year, you know, with the super computer and sh*t ^^
Right, but that’s what sequencing is all about. With Nichols they only had a 7 percent profile. The computer did the rest. Seems like it’s worth a try. You could likely get a university lab to do it for free.
