I’m having trouble finding any information on the missing bottom right corner of the second page of the Little List letter. Does anyone know where I can read about it? Thanks, much appreciated!

Emann, where are you seeing this letter, with the corner of the second page missing?

The letter is at Tom’s site intact, no corners missing.

I see what you mean! The letter is like that in the hi-res section of Tom’s site, which I rarely look at for some reason. Tom does have a note at the top of the letter in the hi-res section about the tear. It doesn’t really tell anyone anything, though.

This prompted me to look at all the pages of the letter and the fold lines. It looks like the first two pages have faint fold lines which show the letter was folded in thirds. This is more apparent at Tom’s hi-res images than the ones posted here, which don’t look like they were folded at all. The third page looks like it was folded in thirds and then folded in half making six "squares" on the page. The final two pages have distinct fold lines and again those pages are folded in thirds.

I wonder why the third page is folded in sixths?

The fifth page also appears to have a faint vertical fold line.

You’re right, it could have a faint fold. It’s pretty strange that all the pages look like they were folded with different pressure. One would expect that the pages in the center of the stack of pages, starting with page 1, would have the deepest, most distinct fold lines. This letter seems like it’s opposite with the most distinct fold lines being on the last pages of the letter.

Something else to scratch our heads about!

Our problem is they are old.

By the time the hi-res images were produced those letters would have had a long and varied examination and storage history. I would love to be able to say that every little thing we pick up on could "be something" interesting but there’s no way to guarantee that. I mean they were written on whilst in evidence and post Zodiac handing so God only knows that else has happened to them. Who has handled them and how they were returned to evidence and what happened to them whilst they were out.

We never did find out why there’s a corner missing, that I’m aware of. I would love to think there’s a super secret reason and something really important was on that section that has never been released to press or public. I know ‘sloppiness’ can’t be ruled out but I’m less inclined to believe that "tear that bit off" could have been an accepted evidence handling protocol. It might have been accidentally torn and then lost over the years. Post examination.

I’m not sure it is Deb. The missing section looks to have been "added" back in. ;)

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.
