I have a research problem for anyone who is interested, good at research and would like to help me. It is not related to Zodiac, Ted K or even a crime, but fits into an article I am working on.
The problem is it is from the memory of a person. The person remembers an incident that he thinks was in "the Fall" which means Sept., Oct. or Nov., but could also be late summer or early winter. He thinks it was 1974 but I have reason to think it might be 1973.
The incident was a plane crash hitting power lines near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX airport), which cut some power to the airport, temporarily causing flights to be diverted from LAX until power could be restored.
I have tried the usual internet searches using the keywords that make sense, but I can’t seem to find this incident. Maybe it never happened, but he says it did. As stated he thinks 1974 but I have reason to think if it did it was 1973.
Anyone who can find a press report on this incident it would be greatly appreciated!

Yes that is the incident I sm trying to verify. Dr. Lilly says it happened in the fall of 1974 however that comet was most visible to the eye in 1973.
A plane crashing into power lines and cutting power to LAX seems significant enough to have made the newspapers like the LA Times.
Yet I can’t find it on the internet.

Comet Kohoutek was first sighted in March of 1973. I don’t know if it was yet visible to the naked eye. It reached its last closest approach to the Sun on Dec 28, 1973. You’d have to ask an astronomer when it would have been no longer visible from an airplane. Determining the range of dates for viewing that comet with the naked eye could help further narrow your search.
Here’s a crash in nearby San Dimas (about 45 miles from LAX) reported on Nov 19, 1973:
"Rain was blamed for the death of Joanne Stieret, 40, whose light plane struck power lines in San Dimas Friday and crashed"

here is what it is
in 2004 I took a vacation to Miami and Key west for FF ,I drove
On Saturday Oct. 23 around 4-5 pm i was driving south on A1A ,a car seemed to be tailing me and then tailgated very close
at a intersection at or around 140st South this car layed on the horn trying to get me to run through a already yellow traffic light , it was a big intersection and it would be red 1/2 thru .
when the light turned green this car behind me swerved over to block the two lanes that went straight . I proceeded alone then began to notice cars off the road some with the radiators steaming , but no one around the cars except maybe one .
these cars were way off the roadway on this section of A1A that is barren land . I went through 6-7 cars ,seeing the last one with a shot out windshield . up ahead i see a car that appears to have dust coming off it .
then 50 yards up i see a old suburban with 4-5 black males with the back door open with one at the very back handing something to another up front ,i floored it and just then we came to the next intersection one with many businesses and people also the traffic behind me was coming fast .
I was confused at what was going on and kept heading south towards the keys .
Sunday in key West on duvalle st. I see a group of people around a paper stand machine and watching local news at a bar’s TV. What they are looking at is on the cover of a newspaper telling of a massacre in S Miami on Sat. on A1A
I have been unable to find this article ,I am not sure what paper it was but thought it was Miami’s big one , the Sun .
I have tried to contact TV and papers there with no results although one emailed back they have no record of it .
