A film producer is a person who oversees film production. Either employed by a production company or working independently, producers plan and coordinate various aspects of film production, such as selecting the script; coordinating writing, directing, and editing; and arranging financing.
Stumping up money, doing nothing and having no input into the content or the vetting of its accuracy, is a handout. Having your name in credits as a producer is effectively a misrepresentation designed for profit. I welcome any new projects on the Zodiac case, but this doesn’t come across correctly. It would be much better just asking for donations (absent of how big or small), without the selling angle.

You can set up subscription levels and offer tiers of rewards. A lot of Youtubers use it.

Asking for payment just to be credited on an extremely low quality podcast with minimal production values is basically a scam.
