In the aftermath of the brutal stabbing of Bryan Hartnell and Cecelia Shepard, a man in his fishing boat, Ronald Fong, responded to the cries of help from Bryan Hartnell and set off for assistance. My question is, why did Ronald Fong head 3.7 miles north to the Rancho Monticello Resort, when he could have headed 0.7 miles south to Park Headquarters, saving valuable time.
The journey time of Ronald Fong at an estimated 10 mph is 22.2 minutes to Rancho Monticello Resort. The journey time to Park Headquarters would have only taken a little under 5 minutes. Why did Ronald Fong head north?
Didn’t he initially question whether someone was really in need of help? I believe I read some place he did. Perhaps he had parked and unloaded boat at rancho Monticello and headed back in that direction while contemplating the severity of the pleas for help.
Soze
also, there was no Google or GPS back then…he might not have known where park headquarters was
