Is it just me or is the E in Zodiac’s "knife" written unusually? It reminds me of shorthand writing, which is a form of encryption.
That’s pretty close to the ground. Z was probably bent over pretty far. I think because of that uncomfortable/unusual position, the "e" wasn’t written in a flowing manner. The other "e" letters don’t look the same and they aren’t so close to the ground and therefore would’ve been easier to write in a more normal way.

I think it was written that way but the marker came off the door midway through for a couple inches.
Yeah, it looks like he did it in two strokes. But not in the more conventional way.
