I agree there Tahoe, multiple personalities, I don’t buy that. I mean he obviously had good sides to his personality where he could function within society, and then he had the other side which was pure evil. But I don’t think that made Z, a Sybil type personality.

However, I do disagree with the LB theory. I believe that was Z’s work all the way. I think once the costume didn’t work Z would figure little use telling them who I am, it won’t mean anything to them either. If he had to tell them it would defeat all the work he put into making the costume. I bet them not recognizing his symbol really bothered him. In the end he had his way again and got away with murder and a horrific attack.

Almost all serial killers seem to be masters of deception. When Ted Bundy was arrested for multiple murder, some his prominent associates got together and were petitioning for his release because they were absolutely sure there had been a mistake and that the Ted they knew wouldn’t hurt a fly. Same with John Gacy, he was active in many prominent groups and even the Democrat Party where he was photographed with the First Lady. Surely this pillar of the community couldn’t have raped and strangled 33 teenage boys to death?

I don’t see Zodiac as being the type to be active in his local community, I think he was the classic loner type who even his neighbours would know very little about. Just my opinion.
