And therein lies the problem. If this was evident to everyone, it would have been cracked forty years ago. If 100 people read this and 99 fail to grasp the significance but one person does, we may solve this yet. What you can’t do when you discover the Earth is round is spend all day trying to persuade people who will think it’s flat to the day they die.

I was going to spend time on the 340 & 408 but I might try to crack a letter first to reinforce these points. Even then I suspect there will be those not convinced, but that’s fine by me anyway.

I think true solutions will be pretty convincing and not leave much open to interpretation. Harden’s 408 decryption is pretty convincing. I haven’t seen any decryption of subsequent ciphers (or letters for that matter) that even comes close. The more complicated/complex these "solutions" tend to be, the less I tend to believe them. Then again, I’m not the one who needs convincing. Good luck with LE.
