Im reading Graysmiths book at the moment and one of the most interesting pieces of information regarding the Faraday and Jensen case was a report of a car being followed on LHR that night.
"At 9:30 an unusual incident occurred on this spot. A boy and his date parked the girl’s sports car just off the winding road so he could adjust its motor. Both saw a car, possibly a blue Valiant, coming down the road from Benicia into Vallejo. As the car passed the couple, it slowed, went a few yards down the road, and stopped in the middle of the road. They saw its white backup lights come on. And then the car started backing up towards them with excruciating slowness. There was such a menace, such an aura of malignancy about the actions that the youth put his date’s car in gear and took off at high speed. The Valiant followed them. When the couple got to the Benicia turnoff, they turned. The other car continued straight ahead"
This to me seems like it had to of been Z. He in my opinion was on the road that night looking for a couple and this was the first couple he came across. If the boy didn’t listen to his gut and get out of there so quickly I believe they could well of been the first victims of Z.
I presume these two were interviewed by the police later, did any more details about the incident come to light?
Here is the police report: http://www.zodiackiller.com/LHRPR10.html
I personally don’t think the person following them was Zodiac. This report mentions there were 2 "caucasians" in the car. It also mentions the car being blue. There were other cars out that that evening that were blue in color…with 2 people in the car: http://www.zodiackiller.com/LHRPR52.html
Crow would later say the car was white…for what it’s worth.

(William Crow is the guy in the report). There are some interesting discussions. mike_r, has some good info about him as he has had personal contact with Crow.
Thanks for the police report Tahoe. Interesting that he changed his story about the what the car looked like. Shame nobody has been able to find the girl he was with that night to get her report on what happened. I think its an interesting lead but not sure if anything will ever come of it…..
I have always felt that Zodiac had some spots picked out before he began his Zodiac killings. He would cruise them at night to reconnoiter and evaluate likelihood of escape. I believe that he almost certainly visited the golf course area before driving down Lake Herman Road on December 20, 1969.
i have read this thing previus, i dont think he was zodiac.
Im absolutly against the idea that the car zodiac used, he was alone. The crime scene have several trange things, could be 2 guys (or mybe a woman, how knows) but the car color is a quiet important point.
What kind of place was lake herman road happening all this things at same time? Those who are trying to convinceme that it wasnt a loverline are
persuading me.
I live thousands of miles from Lake Herman Road. I visited the crime scenes about two years ago. Lake Herman Road still looks like a good spot to take a young lady to make out. It’s dark and secluded and looks like there’s little traffic. I was a teenage boy at one point. That’s the exact spot I’d look for. I imagine it’s not much different than it was 51 years ago.

I think it’s definite that he knew about the spots young couples often parked up at alone. I probably had driven that road many times.
