The casing that was farthest away appears to be 20′ from David’s head…not the Rambler.
Objects seem much closer than they appear sometimes, but there is obviously miscalculations in that report.
This drawing would also depict Betty Lou at more of the 28′ mark from the Rambler. Odd indeed. Of course the mistake with BLJ could simply be that the artist was basing this off of what was told to him at the time. Where did 28′ come from anyway?

thanks for the input….In my mind I always see the sketch more than the photo….The picture clearly shows Betty Lou is more to the right of the taillight and far closer to David than I thought she was, and much farther away from the road than what I’ve always thought. the picture doesn’t lie. So I wonder if the casing at 20′ could actually be the first shot Z fired into the side of the Rambler, to get their initial attention?
