Since there are so many interesting comments in the police reports, I thought it might be good to have a thread based soley on them.

Here is a statement about Gasser (one of the "hunters") that always bugged me:

Wouldn’t "recent THEFTS" be the best reason to KEEP your guns in your home? And of course "theft" implies more than one theft!

Where was the Gasser ranch? Anybody know?

Good one. I guess it would depend if Gasser actually lived (slept) at the ranch, otherwise he might just bring one when he went there. Didn’t he have other properties?

You would think that Pete Gasser would have decent security at his ranch. There is a picture of it on their Family’s site. I believe that Frank lived with them, don’t know how many other family members stayed there. I do find it hard to believe he couldn’t keep a few guns there or are we talking lots and lots of guns here. It is curious, I wonder if any of the police would have been brave enough to knock on Gasser’s front door and ask to search the place.

"It is possible that the gun is there," Well where is it? He admits he doesn’t leave them at the ranch.
Seems like this guy doesn’t want to tell where he stores his guns. And in the reports Robert C. had to give a time-line of his day with Gasser… no where is it mentioned that they stop by anyone’s house to pick up a gun….unless of course it was Robert C. doing all the shooting that night. I know Mrs. Your says she only saw Robert holding one and Gasser holding a flashlight. Whatever happened that night, there is some secrecy going on, and I wonder why….

I believe Frank owned a dairy farm too at some point. What is weird is how Gasser barely appears in the report, but C******* appears multiple times

In this letter from one of Stella Borges’ relatives (Harry Martin’s files) it says that Frank Gasser ‘lived only a short distance from Lake Herman off the freeway’:

Hi Nin,

According to his wife’s obit, Frank Gasser was living in Beneica at the time, which would be near LHR.

I think the highway 21 is a mistake, there is no Highway 21 in the area, maybe even California. It must be highway 12 or highway 29. Neither of those are near Benecia, however they are near Napa where the Gasser clan (Pete I think) had a ranch.

In 1937, Helen married Frank Gasser. They had a dairy on Springs Road until 1942. They had two daughters; Louise Gasser of Napa and Frances Cenotti of Vallejo. Frank and Helen built a home in Napa and lived there until 1948 when they moved to Benicia, where they continued their dairy business. Frank passed away in 1971

What was the name of the Dairy ? Tryin to remember…. I recall Red Top Dairy but that was more like Fairfield/Cordelia area.

..

bentley, I believe highway 21 was the old SR21:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_680_(California )

‘..in July 1973, the remainder of SR 21, from Benicia to Cordelia, was added to the Interstate Highway System. This became the new alignment of I-680, and the old route to Vallejo became I-780.’

Thanks for the obit info.

Ah, OK, now it makes sense. Thanks Nin. So after leaving LH, they went to Benecia and then RC continued on to Napa.

Back to Tahoe’s point then, why did he not keep his guns where he apparently lived in Beneica?

I was reading an old article from 1941 and they called it the Frank Gasser Dairy. The article goes on to talk about a large fire they had. Everything got burned except the ranch house, live stock, and people. They lost outbuildings, barns, dairy houses, milk houses, farm equipment, hay and a
truck. It must have been a huge fire, because it says it was visible for miles….

Edited to add: Another article states that 7 hogs and a dog perished in the fire. Also Gasser believed it was intentionally set because the previous night another feed barn in Solano county also burned down.

While this was in the BRS PD report, it pertains to some male students who graduated Hogan High school the year prior.

I wonder why some of these young men (other than Chris) were taken into consideration?
