I’m reading a report on Reddit a report that talks about someone hearing about his daughter’s death (Betty Lou) and calling home from Mare Island. Did her father work there?

I’m seeing on Richard’s site that he worked as a "programmer for the General Services Administration." Does that mean he was a computer guy?

There may be a possible connection to NORCO. I’ll have to go back through the 300-page history. Fun.

And don’t get your hopes up. I’m not sure if I just have a case of wishful thinking combined with a fleeting memory.

There was a connection. But seemingly minor.

In November 1961, the balance of the hospital property, vacant since the closing of Naval Hospital Corona in 1957, was turned over to the Government Services Administration (GSA.) Shortly thereafter, on March 30, 1962, the GSA transferred this part of the hospital to the California Department of Corrections for conversion into a prison specialized in the incarceration and treatment of drug addicted inmates. The newly created institution was named the “California Rehabilitation Center” (CRC.) Essentially CRC’s property consisted of everything north of the lake. (Ibid)

I’m still interested in connecting Mare Island to the southern series through missiles, satellites and/or computers. So I’m still interested in this topic.

Also, in the weird connections category: There was a data exchange program at NOLC that made testing data/failure data available to all military branches.

The name of the program was FARADA.

I’m not sure if that means anything. Make of that what you will.

In the early 1960s, another data exchange program, the Failure Rate Data (FARADA) program was established. FARADA simplified the problem of determining the reliability of components by making the most current failure rate data available to military and space contractors.
