Thanks for posting this…. I saw this last week the night it came on the news….They advertised it as new evidence in the Z case. So I sat through the commercials, and when the news resumed, and they got into their story it was, oh nothing new. Donna went missing 43 years ago and is still missing. I hate when news org’s. do that. but at least Donna is not totally forgotten by them, so that’s good..

Your Welcome. Yeah I totally agree and am happy to see that Donna isn’t forgotten. News channels always try and vamp up the story and/or sensationalise it to get people to do exactly as you said it cause you to do…. stay tuned after the commercials.

I can imagine BBC NEWS 24 doing something like that….

"We are getting news that is just coming in to the studio, breaking news on sensational new evidence in the unsolved case of ‘ The San Francisco Zodiac Killer’. Come back after this break and we’ll have more on the story." Then after you waste 3 minutes of your life watching people trying to convince you that you want to buy and eat their chocolate (three minutes you can never get back btw), they come back on air with "Now for more on that story we told you about before the commercial break…. Nothing has changed at all whatsoever. In other news now…."

Yes….nothing new and I, for the life of me, cannot figure out why they reported about it.

It isn’t rite to do that. Imagine if Donna’s sister (if she’s still alive – not sure) has been tuned in and heard that? She may have believed that her 43 year old prayer was about to be answered, only to find that, actually, it isn’t and we only said what we said for viewers to stay tuned? I suppose the viewing figures are more important than possibly raising and then dashing people’s hopes.

Or, maybe they really do have new evidence and that is all they are permitted by LE to say about it. LE would likely want to keep any new cards they have in their hand close to their chests. That is common standard practise, LE will release a certain amount of info, but withhold other details that can be crucial when 50 crackpots confess to being Zodiac.

And next month on the 5th they’ll be nothing. I was watching on a Sacramento News Channel. It’s very likely that folks who knew Donna probably saw the same thing I saw. I guess any reminder is a good thing. Donna is a missing person to LE, they have nothing else but that, as far as we know so how many missing person’s are even thought of by news agencies after 43 years. So I guess that’s a bit encouraging….

Her sister is still alive and was made aware of the story. I do believe she is happy there are still reports like this about her sister. Her friend who was to meet her that night is also aware.

It’s usually routine after a certain number of Years for Law Enforcement to Officially declare a person Deceased when no signs of them can be found anywhere nor trace any reported sightings. I have always assumed that at some point this would become necessary step to take because you may have issues such as insurance policies that are only valid upon death being declared and a death Cert issued. Plus a host of other necessary reasons. I’m surprised Donna hasn’t been declared missing with no trace and declare officially deceased. I know that may not be the most thoughtful of things to suggest but there surely needs to be a time when the family let her go and stop hoping for the next doorbell activation to be Donna because I imagine that is living in a constant state of torture and hopes, expectations dashed each time after expectations raised.
