I have followed the Zodiac case since I was a boy and murders were originally committed. My interest really peaked I suppose when the Graysmith book was published. Since then u have followed any developments with great interest and was very excited by last week’s cypher news. Something has always bothered me however and that is the disconnect between the apparent intelligence and cultural sophistication of the Zodiac as evidenced by his facility with creating cyphers and knowledge of operettas and his very poor grammar and spelling. Some may claim that he was purposely writing in this uneducated way to hide his identity but that does not square with what is known about serial killers who are always very eager to show off their intelligence. Any thoughts?
