Hi all,
I’m a 28 year old telecom engineer living in MN. I just got my registration approved for this board after lurking for quite some time, so I thought I’d come introduce myself and say hello. Go Vikings!
I’ve been interested in the Zodiac case for some time now. When I was a kid (8-10 years old I’d say), my older brother & I sneakily watched America’s Most Wanted & they did a segment on the case (this was in the mid 90’s) & the ‘reproduction’ of the LB attack they did gave me nightmares for years and years – especially considering my father was a dead ringer (based on pictures of him from back then) of the revised Stine sketch – even though he’s never once been to California in his life and I knew that it couldn’t have been him, it still was jarring to see for a kid my age.
After seeing Fincher’s film (in which that LB scene ALSO gave me nightmares for awhile, even as a 20-something year old adult – holy crap was that scene well made!), I watched the "This is the Zodiac Speaking" documentary which I’m sure everyone has seen here dozens of times and became even more interested, although I never really got "fully invested" into the case like I am now.
Admittedly, the History Channel miniseries did rekindle this renewed interest recently as the "new" suspects intrigued me quite a bit, even though the show really didn’t deliver in the end…. if it did anything though, it got someone like me hooked on the case again and I binged the crap out of the Criminology podcast… I’m all in at this point. Thanks for having me!
ps: I think Ross Sullivan is indeed the most promising suspect out there, although it’s obviously far from a sure thing. It just feels like we are just seeing too many coincidences for him to not have some kind of involvement in Z or at the very least, the murder of Cheri Jo Bates.
Welcome to the world of Z
