I’m an aerospace engineer from Southern California, and I’m primarily interested in the ciphers. I’ve spent many hours tracking down solution ideas that led nowhere, and it’s nice to find a group of people who seem to be in the same boat.

I know! I’ve been following many of the discussions. I also think Jarlve is really sharp.
Welcome DMW and thanks for the kind words.
Hi
Happy to be joining the forum.
I am a software engineer, and a big fan of unsolved ciphers, as well of historical cryptography and codebreaking. I even completed a Ph.D. on the topic (https://www.upress.uni-kassel.de/katalog/abstract.php?978-3-7376-0458-1) which is great fun but not necessarily the most effective way to get rich or progress in the academia .
Enjoying reading the entries in the blog, solving some of the challenges (which turn out were solved already ages ago ), and learning from the great analyzes and tools written here.

Welcome, George.
I suggest you start your own thread instead of piggybacking on mine. I don’t mind, but I think you will get more responses that way.
