I’m Kaitain. I live in the Bay Area. (Sadly I am not the Zodiac.) The case has fascinated me for some time. I’ve visited most Zodiac-related locations several times, read books, lurked on boards. I don’t have a POI. I tend to think that POIs can be somewhat dangerous…I think that you tend to see Kuhnian behaviours occurring, where defending your theory becomes more about ego, personality and politics than truth. You feel like your reputation hangs on it, and you can get defensive and aggressive. (I’ve witnessed this at other sites where people were expected to agree that person X was the Zodiac – Gaikowski, primarily – or else be branded an idiot simply for maintaining a skeptical stance.)
I’m particularly interested in hearing people’s out-of-the-box theories about the case: let’s assume that widely-held belief B is in fact false, and go from there, or what if Zodiac actually had unusual trait T that might explain some of his other behaviour, and so forth.
I have always been particularly intrigued by the Stine murder. It’s the weirdest of the four, in several respects.
I also have an encoding scheme in mind that could be responsible for the 340, although it’s a long shot and would probably only make sense for one of the common Zodiac suspects. I doubt it is correct (it cannot be verified easily as the search space is extremely large), but it’s a possibility. It would be interesting to post a message here using this scheme with characteristics superficially similar to that of the 340, and then see if anyone can crack it, or at least identify more regularities in it than are in the 340. (If they can, it would suggest that this is NOT the scheme used by the 340.) If I were a betting man I would bet on the 340 being time-wasting gobbledegook, but I wouldn’t bet too heavily.

a lot to offer.

Edit.. But if you want to be my friend you need to debunk my POI.. So I can move on
Welcome, Kaitain.
