Is that a better quality for members and readable? I think I’ll delete the earlier, cropped Documents on this thread now.

Request to any Mod….

As you can see, I’ve deleted the earlier, far lower quality uploads of the documents as I have now scanned them and posted them in the more recent posts in the thread. Is there anyway one of the mods, for continuity purpose and to tidy up the thread a bit, can take these scanned docs now on Page 8 of this thread, and then delete the posts where I say "Post deleted as better quality scanned documents now uploaded later in thread" and place these docs there instead?

Is it known exactly how many SSNs Kane had/used? Maybe each alias had it’s own SSN. I wonder how he would be able to have more than one. Maybe a friend in a high place that assisted him in doing so. If "Kane" was meant to be seen in the cipher and LE questioned him about it, he could just say "that’s not me. I am… (insert another one of his names).

Dahl was from Norway and came to the US in the 1920’s. He shows up on a 1930 census as being married and living with his in-laws. Wife Edna M. nee Heins. By the 1940 census it is just Dahl and his wife. Both censuses have him living in Orangetown, Rockland, New York. His occupation is floor finisher. In 1953 he and his wife show up in a Santa Barbara city directory. He is living at the Dahl Apartments, I’m assuming he is the owner. The 1972 Santa Barbara city directory says he is retired and he and his wife are at a different address than the apartments.

Looks like Dahl had a son named Norman, born 1945 and died 2005. Found his obit http://www.sbnewspress.com/obits/1-18-2005obits.htm

DAHL, Norman R.
was born on July 27, 1945 on the East Coast and came to Santa Barbara as a small child where his parents were to make their home for the rest of their lives. Norman passed away on January 13, 2005 and was predeceased by both his parents, Reidar and Edna Dahl. Norman’s story can’t be accurately told without mentioning his very special parents, Reidar and Edna. When they arrived in Santa Barbara around 1949 they began to search for educational possibilities for Norman. Together, with other parents seeking the same possibilities, they started what was to become Alpha School, a school that was to become a great part in their lives. Norman was blessed with exceptional parents and he led a special life. He loved parties and people. He kept track of the extended family, memorizing every important date, whether it should be a birthday, an anniversary, or any other significant event. He loved to take snapshots and arrange them in photo albums. He was particularly fond of Elvis and collected many of his records and he loved videos of musicals. These were his toys and his hobby. He was an officer in our local Sons of Norway Lodge, then as a student representative on the Alpha School Board, and in many of the Special Olympics. He was a joy to behold and he made many friends throughout the community. We are all the better for having known Norman. We will all miss him. Norman is survived by his Aunt Mildred Vanzetta of Highland Falls, NY; several cousins (Mike and Bill Vanzetta and Linda Standish) and family back east; a cousin Hans Petter Borge in Norway, and cousins (Anna Heins Manley and Charles Heins) and family here on the West Coast, as well as his cousins Eva Sjovold and Norma Delwiche here in Santa Barbara. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 19, at the Welch-Ryce-Haider Mortuary with a short burial service at the Santa Barbara Cemetery. Donations to Alpha School in lieu of flowers will be greatly appreciated. The families very much appreciate the loving care bestowed on Norman by the caregivers at Home of Your Own and the staff at Mission Terrace these past couple of years.

Welsh,

In reading through the docs this stuck out to me. It states in reference to the "last cipher sent by Z which says his name is Kane, that he was born in 1924 & that he is Jewish". I’ll have to go back an re-read through that cipher. I know where they got the Kane from, but never saw that the cipher stated what year he was born or that he was Jewish. That kind of through me.

Well the cipher the document is referring to has to be ‘My name is . . . .’ letter and the line of cryptic text below….

The three circles each appear to contain a figure 8. My mathematics is deplorable at best (lol) but even I am confident that upon combining the three numerical amounts one will quickly arrive at the number ’24.’ Please, remain seated while applauding, no need to stand. Anyway, back to serious matters, the Jewish Claim.

This stems from, as I posted somewhere yesterday, Hines solution appearing to spell the decoded messge ‘NAME KANE’ and do so in the Jewish style of writing, ie, written starting on the right hand side of the page, and continuing to the left. The opposite way we here in the West would write it, it’s completely reversed.

It can’t be any other Cipher text Hines is referring to because of the ciphers sent by Z, only one has ever been solved with any great degree of certainty, and that deciphered message did not give any reference to Name of Kane being born in 24, under the sign of Taurus and Jewish as his ethnic background.

Welsh,

Thanks, as soon as I began re-reading through the cipher it hit my memory bank. The 3 8’s, the reading from right to left. Memory fade here. I was surprised that the FBI would include that as a point of fact, as a cipher. As much as I’ve liked Kane as a suspect taking those 13 characters and saying it says my name is Kane, never made sense to me. One can make those 13 characters say lots of things. the best one could call it would be a word jumble, not a cipher. I was just surprised the FBI would address it that way.
