Howdy folks, new here. I wanted to get this out here in case it hasn’t been mentioned before and so I don’t forget it.

Topic here: viewtopic.php?f=73&t=57 (Eureka Card mailed 1990 to the SF Chronicle)

I recognize that style pen magnet from when I was a kid. I don’t know if it has any bearing, but my dad got out of the US Army in the 60’s where he was a diesel mechanic. He kept an old toolbox with tools that he brought out with him and in it he had one of these.

There are a lot of types of this magnet, but there is something different with both this one and the one my dad had that needs mentioning. The magnetic tip on the one in the pic is small. This is different from most any of the types typically found, ie at metal yards and body shops in the US:

The one my dad had was engraved with German writing. He was stationed in Germany during some of the Vietnam war. Outside of his, this is the first one I’ve seen that has the small tip.

I know there is debate of any connection with the keys and Zodiac, but thought I’d throw this out there. It might be something to look into.

I’ve never seen that pic before! Pretty cool. I’ve heard he had a small pencil or pen like flashlight on his gun maybe that could be it? Did they ever make them on a keychain?
