It’s been a while since posting on this site…

I investigate and read on the Zodiac off and on in my spare time.

Anyway, I have a few questions and a theory.

In the letter Z wrote after the killing of PS in PH, he mentions the cops trying to make more noise than the motorcycles. It’s strange that he just randomly mentions a motorcycle. Didn’t Ross own a motorcycle??? Perhaps, on this day, he escaped by motorcycle. Maybe this was a clue, or trying to throw police off that he drove a motorcycle.
Also, he said in his letter, that he spoke to two cops. The cops said they didn’t speak to anyone. Why would he say he did? This is the same letter he mentions the motorcycles to the best of my memory.
Isn’t it possible, on that day, a motorcycle could have been his mode of transportation, and he didn’t want them to know he had a motorcycle. We know he operated by car, but could he have had a motorcycle as well???
I just find it odd, that he mentions a motorcycle (s) randomly for no reason.
. . . Perhaps there are a lot of ppl who ride by motorcycles in that area, idk… as I’m not familiar with PH.

Another question is regarding Ross Sullivan’s life in Upstate NY. He was born in Syracuse, yes?
I, myself from Syracuse have to wonder how long did he live here??? Did he move as a child?
Sullivan is actually a common last name in Syracuse. Wonder if anyone in the SYR. area would know anything about RS?

Anyone know how long he lived in the NY area?

I think he was just trying to taunt the police and make them seen incompetant. Lead the public to think the cops had been even closer to potentially catching him than they actually were, and yet he still got away.

Yep he also mentions the search dogs and doesn’t make him a dog owner. Yep just taunting the police.

In the letter Z wrote after the killing of PS in PH, he mentions the cops trying to make more noise than the motorcycles…

Zodiac talks about the cops on their motorcycles:

"…instead of holding road races with their motor cicles seeing who could make the most noise"

There were motorcycle cops there that night. I think it’s his way of proving he was there when all this was going on.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

I’m not so sure about that. I suppose he could have "just" have been taunting…
However, were there any motorcycles in the area? Any events going on, that motorcycles were involved in???

There had to have been some actuality to the sounds of motorcycles.

Like I stated, I’m not familiar with PH.

However, I try not to be so black & white, and just think it was "just" for the sake of taunting. And it could’ve been, but I was thinking Z could have been reflecting on something within that specific area and environment… If not himself.

And honestly, who knows if the policeman really talked to someone or not. They were silly and irresponsible enough to not stop and talk to the man they observed…
I imagine those cops felt pretty foolish and embarrassed to have been so irresponsible… I know I would have!

Thanks,

It’s been a while since I read the letter.

You know though, if he was trying to prove he was there….
Didn’t he also mention cops stopping and talking to him in another letter?

If they really didn’t, wonder why he’d mention they did?

Perhaps they did, or he was fibbing about it? Maybe to make them look foolish….

I can’t wrap my mind around WHY those cops who observed him wouldn’t stop and at least ask has he seen anyone. I know a black male was wrongly reported at first, but still…
After a murder, you’d think they WOULD stop and talk to him (the man who had the widow’s peak and glasses, crew cut) they described.

I’m just not sooo sure why any cop would do something so irresponsible.

However, I try not to be so black & white, and just think it was "just" for the sake of taunting.

In my mind, I would never discount the taunting aspect by Zodiac. I think that murder almost became secondary to him as his thrill from "the game" was making police look foolish. He seemed to really love the taunting and I have to wonder if he had a grudge against police because he had in the past tried to become a policeman and was denied. His "game" was his way of proving he was better than they were.

That’s pretty good speculation, that could have been.

Another thing I question, is what made Ross’s brother think he was the Zodiac? I’m assuming no one can answer that with so much info. unavailable.

Wonder if his bro seen something or witnessed Ross doing in order to have made such an assumption.

I have brothers myself, and in order for me to suspect them of murder, there’d definitely have t’ be a reason!
