A couple of renditions of the attack on Lake Herman Road describe a scenario that the Killers car was not seen after the murders because he turned off Lake Herman Rd on to Old Lake Herman Rd and followed it in to Benicia. I can not find Old Lake Herman Rd on any map. Any ideas on that?
It’s now known as Reservoir Road @38.0968794,-122.1361326,532a,35y,180h,44.8t/data=!3m1!1e3″> https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/38.09 … a=!3m1!1e3
Thank you so much. I thought that might be it. I spend a lot of time on your website. I appreciate your objective approach.
Does anyone know if the park at Lake Herman was closed off that time of night, like a locked gate?
If you mean the gated fence at the turnout- The turnout back in 1968 had a double-gated entrance, locked at its center point and was the entrance to the Benicia Water Pumping Station. Bingo Wesner used this gate on the night of the murders.
If you mean the gated fence at the turnout-
No, I mean down the road, the park at Lake Herman itself, assuming there was a park there at that time.
Do you mean here @38.09775,-122.151306,3a,15y,253.17h,83.57t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sNuxmM8CGdCDxjAqVntqSjg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656″> https://www.google.co.uk/maps/ @38.09775 … 312!8i6656
The statement by the Yours also confuses the heck out of me. It seems to indicate that Farady moved, or reparked his car in the turnout. The police sketch shows it facing the field as reported by others. Am I misreading something here? Thanks again.

Yeah, that where I mean.
I’m just wondering if there was a parking area there at the time, why Faraday and Jansen didn’t park there instead.
Also wonder if Zodiac went there first looking for victims and happened on Jansen and Faraday down the road.
Doesn’t really matter.

What statement are you referring to? Because I recall seeing someone said when they passed by the car Faraday and Jansen were in was parked on the other side of the turnout.

The Your couple drove by the turnout twice and saw Farady’s car both times. They also saw the truck of the two guys racoon hunting. Their statement gets a little confusing but they seem to state that the second time by, the victim’s car was facing the road.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure were’re talking about the same thing, I don’t recall the names though. I think they said the car was parked on the embankment on the opposite side where it was ultimately found. Not sure where I saw that, probably in the police reports.

Do you mean Bingo Wesher had a key to the gate ?
Sandy may know what time the recreation area was open until, but my guess is it was locked by the time Faraday and Jensen arrived. It was Frank Gasser and Robert Connelly that saw the Rambler on the south side of the turnout facing the bank, not the Yours. http://www.zodiackiller.com/LHRPR24.html

I would guess so, as he had access and egress from the farmland to the road. I assume it was private access.
