Ted K was brilliant at creating codes. Has anyone asked him to attempt to solve the 340?
Consider:
1. TK is not Z. If he can solve the 340 after all these decades, without the help of computers, this would be a huge ego boost to him, and somewhat validate his claim that computers are overrated. It would also mean he was smarter than Z.
2. TK was Z. He solves it, accomplishes all of the above, and then reiterates he’s not Z. Doubtless there would be nothing in the 340 solution that would ID him.
Does anyone know if he’s been asked to tackle the 340? He certainly has time on his hands, and it’s an interesting puzzle worthy of his attention.
I’m not sure, but I think Douglas Oswell may have asked him about the Z codes. He corresponded with him at one point, asked him to provide alibis for certain crimes, etc. From what I recall, though, Ted wasn’t too keen on the Z case. I don’t think he ever responded to Oswell’s communications.
