At the end of the third episode they were led to "donner pass" by a decoded cipher found on a missing person flyer for donna lass that may have been produced by zodiac himself. Starting from the casino the directions were perfect.

Is donna lass buried at donner pass?

How’s that unsolved cipher working out with that bookk?

Yeah, the the numerical-astrological ciphers outlined in book three of the Steganographia couldn’t possibly be helpful here.

Regardless, I am of the opinion that cracking those ciphers will not bring you any closer to solving the crimes of zodiac.

Agreed.
Finger prints make perfect sense.

How Mich do you know about book 3 of the Steganographia? Or the cipher work of Johannes Trithemius?

Trithemius cipher Or Vigenere cipher techniques can’t be of any use, can they?

The show did mention that zodiac only attacked on "dali days" of the 13 Moon calendar.

The symbol for a "dali" day in the 13 Moon calendar is a circle with a crossed vertical and horizontal line. The zodiac symbol.

Also, the symbol representing "D" in the 408 cipher was the zodiac symbol, which is also the dali day symbol. (I assumed that zodiac would use the first letter of his name to represent his symbol, my suspects name is "Richard" so I thought the "d" represented the name "dick", but it might have some connection to dali days, as the dali day symbol and the zodiac symbol are the same.

Zodiac did not create that reward poster.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

I’m hoping they cracked the 340. I’m expecting that they did not.

The problem with the ciphers is they don’t contain one definitive answer.

This is the guy writing about just that – who is the one who claims to have solved it (Craig P Bauer): http://www.history.com/news/the-zodiac- … at-we-know

If you remember the other person of his team said.. "well ya that’s the best we’ve come up so far"…. Just going to be another empty cliffhanger unfortunately

Ahhh interesting. What do you suspect Z’s claiming this one would be? Just to have a freebie he cld add to his count and cause folks to freak out even more? Or maybe even sent the investigators down the wrong trail? Meaning if the did find the real Bates killers, it they wld peg all of Z’s on him, thus freeing Z up to move on?

You mean Albany? Meh, I don’t think it’s Zodiac no matter what that handwriting lady said.

That’s what I heard, that it was a modern forgery, it had the wrong area code, no?

Yes, horrible analysis in my opinion. The handwriting, code symbols, Zodiac symbol, style of writing, content, everything leads me to believe it’s a hoax letter.

I get the feeling that history channel is going to pull what they pulled with oak island with their zodiac show, it’s going to be teasers and claims that they have made "the greatest discovery ever" and every time it will be nothing but a big disappointment.

Everything on that show has already been discussed on this site at one point or another…

…and I am guessing that like every other claim of beating the z308, that this claim will be another which leaves one uncertain that the cipher had truly been beaten at all. In most cases these solutions only satisfy those who provided them, and history channel has a history of making huge claims with nothing behind them, so I wouldn’t get too excited.

I have yet to explore the link you posted, but judging by the text that proceeded it I am guessing that the excerpt proceeding this one was accurate…

It’s a shame. Who would do such a thing? Not only is it incredibly disrespectful, it is muddling up an unsolved missing person/homicide case.

Any way, yes, the consensus appears to be that the "donna lass missing person flyer" was a modern forgery.

I solved it 340, and Richard M. "Nikson" was Zodiac.. ha! Misspelling the presidents name would be something I could see Z doing though.

Richard Grinell pointed out that Nixon was the 37th president. 37 kills. Hmm. He also noted that Nixon was president from 1969 until 1974, which lines up. Could there really be something to this??

A few minutes ago on a toilet not very far, far away….

Oh yeah, that’s why I say I never totally discount anything about Zodiac. I’m inclined to think it isn’t Zodiac but wouldn’t totally ignore it.
