Supposedly someone who studies handwriting and signatures posted that a long time ago. Even if someone gets "lazy" with their handwriting, is it believable that someone’s handwriting would change THAT much? I have seen several pieces of Nixon’s writing, and it does seem that he was lazy at times. I noticed that if he was writing to someone important, his handwriting was at it’s best. In writings to other people it is a little sloppy. But the weird thing is that he had about a dozen different ways of signing his name. I would post examples, but I’m lazy also :)

A few minutes ago on a toilet not very far, far away….

I’d assume the later (1974+) signatures were to do with Nixon’s collapse, subsequent surgery and slow (but perhaps not full) recovery.

The 1973 signature not looking too good may well be due, at that time, to the intense stress of ongoing investigations into the Watergate cover-up & the infamous tapes, which when revealed would at the very least expose his tendency to curse, engage in racist language, and to his knowledge of (and rubber-stamping of) clandestine activities prior to the Watergate break-in.

Much of the stress on Nixon may well have stemmed from his strict Quaker upbringing and the shame of being exposed for his language and activities, as per the Oliver Stone "Nixon" film (which is very good IMO – though necessarily speculative).

Before the Z got me hooked 10 years ago, I was hooked on all things Nixon/Watergate for decades. Similar to the Z case there are tons of unknowns, varying accounts, theories, and smoke and mirrors.

Wikipedia: In October 1974, Nixon fell ill with phlebitis, the inflammation of the walls of a vein. Told by his doctors that he could either be operated on or die, a reluctant Nixon chose surgery

I think the show nailed it and it was team Zodiac. Nixon wrote the letters and G Gordon Liddy & Frank Sturgis did the murders.

I think we are on to something thanks to the History Channel solving the Z340 ! G Gordon Liddy & Frank Sturgis committed the crimes and why the sketches look different at times. Nixon wrote the letters and E Howard Hunt lick the stamps. H.R Haldeman is still covering it up to this day. No wonder this case hasn’t been solved after all these years! Mods please feel free to move this post to the theories section!

Definitely team zodiac. Tahoe in a post elsewhere identified them as John Cleese and the Monty Python guys!

And, stitch, don’t forget Elvis’s visit to Nixon at the White House on Dec 21st 1970. An anniversary visit by the large dude with the accent bryan hartnell couldn’t place?

That’s Presley, not Costello BTW.

RTF there is only one Elvis to me and it’s not Costello. Wonder if the same Elvis that visited Nixon could have been the 68 comeback Elvis 6ft tall in leather that the theater guy seen ?
