Tom Voigt’s newest update:

The Zodiac case hasn’t been closed, but that doesn’t mean the Zodiac case hasn’t been solved.

Tom may be right, but frankly, I’m tired of cryptic messages. Either have news or don’t. Give us a name or don’t. Enough games.

I hope you mean the forensic work is going successfully, Tom.

Why not give a name, then?

I doubt LE would pass that information to Tom even if the suspect was deceased.

Tom,
When you say the case is solved – do you mean by law enforcement? In other words, law enforcement knows who did it, but can’t make an arrest? Or are you referring to people on the internet being confident that they solved it?

The Zodiac case hasn’t been closed, but that doesn’t mean the Zodiac case hasn’t been solved.

By comparison to GSK, it sounds like maybe they’ve narrowed it down to one or two people in the family tree, but they can’t find the person in the real world, which they need to do to go through his trash to get a kleenex. That would give DNA that would confirm their genealogical results. So, it’s "solved," in that they KNOW who did it, but they can’t find the last piece to get confirmatory testing so they can "close" the case with an arrest or a press conference.

Now, if I’m anywhere close to correct, it’s just a guess on my part. However, that seems a reasonable parsing of the two words: solved and closed.

Can anybody provide a link to Tom’s site where the latest announcement was made? I’ve been looking, but I’ve obviously worked too hard today already. I can’t find it

This is either solved or it is not. Which is it? Tom’s wording is very vague. If ehe knows that it has been solved, then say that.

And if he knows it has been solved, why wouldn’t he provide details such as his source of information, date, etc.

If the case has been solved, what could be the reasons for the Zodiac’s name not to be disclosed?

I still wonder what Voigt meant by that. Probably just a way for him to promote his site.
