In December 2017 billionaires Barry and Honey Sherman were found strangled to death in their Toronto mansion. This is an intriguing case as the police initially chalked it up as a murder/suicide by Barry, but this was later changed to a double murder investigation.
Apparently both bodies had jackets pulled down over their arms in a form of binding, which would mean the police made a very odd decision deciding that one of the victims had been the perp. If we also assume that the perp in a marriage murder/suicide is almost always the man (at least where the method is physically demanding), then it is also odd that Barry’s body was found with his legs crossed – a difficult pose to maintain if one is committing suicide by ligature strangulation. Finally, they define ligature strangulation being ‘a force other than the body weight of the victim’ which would be extremely hard (if not impossible) to carry out for a suicide, certainly not without leaving clear evidence.
Being ageing billionaires, it is not hard to imagine that they have amassed their share of enemies over the years, justified or otherwise.
