There are murmurings on the web that Golden State Killer, Joseph DeAngelo possibly had an accomplice. During attack #24 (10/1/77 in Rancho Cordova, CA) against a teenage girl and her boyfriend, the victims observed the following while the crime was in progress: "He returned to check on the boyfriend. He roamed through the house. He checked on the boyfriend no less than eight times throughout the attack. (HAP: Sometime around this point of the assault, the boyfriend heard the doorbell ring. The intruder went outside and was gone for several minutes). He returned to the girl, held the knife to her throat again and issued threats, and raped her again. At one point he put the gun against her head again and cocked it. (HAP: Right after he sexually assaulted her, he went to the kitchen, and a car horn honked twice. A few moments passed, and then it honked twice again. A few more minutes passed, and the doorbell rang five times. Then there was a knock on a window (not on a door). At this point, the female victim could hear muffled voices. One sounded like a woman’s voice." (from Cold Case-Earons.com article by Winters; embedded quotes: Hunting a Psychopath by Richard Shelby)
Considering the above witness accounts, DeAngelo’s wife at the time, should be considered a possible POI in the case.
