ELK CITY, Okla. — Authorities in Oklahoma on Tuesday recovered two vehicles from a lake that contain the bodies of five people who may have been missing for decades.
The cars recovered from Foss Lake in western Oklahoma may solve cold cases from the late 1950s and 1970. The Daily Elk Citian reported that the vehicles appear to match a Camaro missing with three Sayre teenagers since 1970 and an older Chevrolet with two Canute residents missing since the late 1950s or early 1960s.
Interesting..I’d say the Chevrolet was..GREEN.
A 1958 model. With Nora Marie Duncan inside, the other person still unknown (possibly her lover or so).

I don’t mean this to be harsh because I posted this with the knowledge that it might be of interest to those members who deal with a lot of other cold cases, yourself included QT.
I’m just thinking though can we keep any speculation to a minimum until the authorities have released the names so we aren’t inadvertently causing distress to relatives with missing loved ones and it turns out not to be them.
Thanks.
Trav.
The number of bodies that have been found has been upgraded to six. There were three bodies found in each car.

From the above link.
"Custer County Sheriff Bruce Peoples said late Tuesday three skeletal remains were found in the 50s Chevy, not two as initially believed."
Thanks for posting about this Trav.
One of the bodies has been identified, but they have not released the name.
Sheriff asked public for help in identification of tze other car’s passengers..already reported it.

"Debbie McManamman said she believes the older car, which appears to be a 1950s-era Chevrolet, contains the remains of her grandfather, 69-year-old John Alva Porter, KFOR reported."
"(Sheriff Bruce) Peoples told KOCO on Tuesday that the other car, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, may have belonged to 16-year-old Jimmy Williams, a Sayre teenager who disappeared in 1970 with two friends: Thomas Rios and Leah Johnson, both 18."
news flash …many rural inhabitance ( of central US) are not nice ,freindly folk ,have a rough life ,do not care for urban folk , the movie Winters Bone is very accurate with respect to some counties IMO
Ace, what does your post have to do with the topic of the thread?

Well, now they got it…Mike Nance was the person I had mailed yesterday about Marie Duncan..

Obviously, in connection with the information about John Alva Porter and this sibling, the other three should be preliminary IDed as well now.
BTW, interesting that they had Rio, but not Jimmy Williams or Leah Johnson in their database.

Maybe you had to be there seagull, I am not trying to offend all rural residents yes a lot of good ones, but certainly groups of evil intent people in the midwest /farming community in areas or just acted on it more as in 70’s a quite small police force back then .
It was just a statement, but I see how it applies southern -midwest rural ,120 miles from Oklahoma city.
from what I have read it was a little known, remote spot in the 70’s .
I’d say it was done by more than one person or a good chance, with 3 victims in each.
What leads you to conclude that there was foul play involved? I looked at a Google map of the area where the cars were found. There is a highway that runs right along side of the lake in that area. It seems far more likely that one or both of the cars ended up in the lake due to accidental circumstances than foul play.
This was on the NBC nightly news last night . They showed the spot where the cars were pulled out and sure didn’t notice a highway with in 150′ ,just a dirt road as likely was the parking lot roads in 70. also think it stated the older man was headed away from the lake when he left the house and the teens were going to a fair . yes need all the info, but the tone of news segments i,ve seen suggests foul play three young kids could get out of a car that drove into a lake sure seems as a killer was at work in 69 ,70 around there and if he killed 3 in 69 ,it’s likely not his first .
good luck ever piecing this puzzel together unless there is a connection to all the victims or evidence in or around the cars I bet the docum /news crews are fighting to see who airs a special 1st
