The murder of Kitty Genovese took place in Queens NY. She was killed on March 13,1964. Her murderer, Winston Moseley, ambushed her in a dark alley at 3:00 in the morning. Moseley stabbed her and left her lying in the alley dying. He proceeded to go and get his car, parked nearby, drive back to the alley and stab her some more, before rapping her. She was screaming for 30 to 40 minutes, as he carried out his dastardly deeds, while 37 neighbors heard her cries. Not one person called the police. Thirty seven individuals who did not want to get involved. Back in those days people were very different than they are now. I’ve always wondered how many people know who the Zodiac is, but are not saying. They are either scared of the Zodiac, or they just do not want to come forward. The person or persons who does come forward will surely have a huge book deal worth millions and millions of dollars.

Yeah, this murder is intriguing. A while back, audible sold this audio book very cheaply for 24 hours. I bought and listened to it. It’s a good book. Some of the background drags on a bit, but overall, it’s very well written. One of the points that stuck with me the most is how, in recent years, some people have been trying to rewrite history and claim that events did not happen the way they were documented to have happened. It felt like they were undoing the lessons we learned from the experience.

Personally, I doubt there is anybody who truly knew the identity of the Zodiac and simply chose not to come forward (other than the killer himself, of course). In fact, part of the Genovese case which may have implications regarding the Zodiac is the way in which Winston Moseley appeared to be somewhat normal in that he was married and had two children; yet, he engaged in serious criminal activity and managed to hide it all from his family. Whoever the Zodiac was, he likely appeared to be reasonably normal to the people who knew him or knew of him.

You’re right about that.

Can’t help but think of Cheri Bates’ murder. As I understand it, a several people in nearby apartments hurt "a horrible scream", but no one bothered to call the cops.
