The first victim was stabbed over 100 times. I would imagine after that number the coroner loses track of separate wounds. Imagine the rage required to sustain that kind of attack.
This reminds me of the cases surrounding Robert Napper in 90’s London. Probably not a known name outside the UK, I believe he would have become our EAR/ONS if left unchecked, he graduated from attempted rapes, rapes, murder in public, murder in the home – his final victims were a mother and young daughter, apparently the crime scene was left looking like JTR’s Mary Kelly by the time he was finished. An interesting read for anyone interested in this kind of thing.

Interesting you say ex soldier. I considered that given that Colchester hosts a soldier barracks.
