I was speaking about a History Channel program called "MYSTERYQUEST", in the program an acquaintance of "gyke" has a letter from albany, new york, written by "gyke", this letter places "gyke" in new york on the date of the lake herman road homicide, supposedly clearing him of being zodiac.

Loomis listed for me all correspondences and dates. None cleared Gaikowski. There is no proof of where he was on the Zodiac dates, same as with all of the other suspects. Why this persists I have no idea.

I’m sure it persists simply because these claims are never as publicly invalidated as they are made.

I mean, I can remember a man on television waving around a letter saying "this is proof that "gyke" was in albany, new york on the date(s) of the zodiac murders", lake herman road specifically, however, on a message board, rather than television, is the first time that I have ever heard the claim discredited.

Perhaps if the invalidation of these claims was televised the persistence of said claims would diminish.

Also, I found a site which mentions this claim, yet I do not remember this site mentioning that this claim was invalid or disputed.

During the recent broadcast of the new History Channel program MYSTERYQUEST, a friend of Gaikowski’s mentioned a letter he had received from the suspect at the time that the Zodiac murders began. According to the friend, this letter indicates that Gaikowski was in Albany, New York, and not in California at the time in question. http://www.zodiackillerfacts.com/Richar … 0Story.htm

I don’t know what to make of all this.

You have been involved with this case for quite some time, so I am inclined to take your word for it when you say that there was no substance to the claim.

To those who can’t place enough emphasis on a widows peak, or what color hair someone had, consider this: In October 1969 there was a store a couple of blocks from where Zodiac accessed Stine’s cab, and it sold short-haired wigs of many styles. This ad was in an October 1969 issue of the Good Times:

Once you start bringing in the crewcut wigs, you’re firmly in Graysmith territory. These are the kinds of illogical leaps that desperate people make to prop up bad suspects.

Perhaps.

Though zodiac did say "I look like the description passed out only when I do my thing, the rest of the time I look entirle different. I shall not tell you what my descise consists of when I kill."

What could he have possibly meant by this?

There are also the connections to art, film, and theatre related to zodiac. This man also prepared an elaborate costume at lake berryessa. So is a wig really such a leap?

I’m not saying there is anything to support the claim that zodiac used wigs or costumes, but it is not outside of the realm of reasonability.

The link did not work for me.

You have been researching this case for quite a while, so I am fine with taking your word for it until I have the time to preform additional research.

Hi Tom
Could you in a nutshell list the reasons you think Gaikowski makes a good zodiac suspect? (seriously-I’m a noob on him)
thanks in advance.

Well I am very happy to read your comments Tom. Try not to be discouraged by a few bad eggs. Generally posters are respectful on this site.

Barrow81: We all don’t get along on these message boards, that is a given.

Tom’s work has gone far beyond creating a website. Disagree all you want about a subject or POI, but let’s try and keep it as civil as we can. We know there are members here who were probably banned from the Zodiackiller.com message board and aren’t thrilled at the idea of Tom posting here. Please, take your issues to Tom (or a moderator)…privately.

Yes he’s such a tool..guy makes a website and thinks he’s special…try being nice to people voight you scrape…sick of reading your condensending shit..

I’m really curious what the policies are around here. So far since I joined, we have users who have made a point to start nonsense with me…but it’s only an issue if I reply?

Personal attack posts will be removed. Some moderators have been busy with other projects, but we will go through and remove as necessary. If anyone takes issue with any posts, please bring that post to the attention of a moderator. There might be some we overlooked.

Good idea but I have yet to see it happen. In fact, I’d be happy with any such issues being posted right here in public. (I think most of ’em never even had contact with me before, they simply read the nonsense spewed by Butterfield at his site before it died, or even repeated here.)

Anyone who was banned by me in the last say 10 years, by all means let’s hear how unjust I was. From 2008 and on.

I admit morf used to drive me crazy as a barn cat. I banned him several times, but as it turns out he was just super enthusiastic. Obviously he has stuck around and wasn’t a troll, so in hindsight I should have been above that.
