Sorry – I’ve "poked the bear" and let things kind of get out of hand. Tom, we can continue this via PMs if you’d like. I can stay on your shit list but we can still respond to each other here from time to time when appropriate. :)

It’s funny to a certain extent. Here is two grown men in a tit for tat, tit for tat. But it’s actually pretty sad and very much disappointing. Both men have earned, in my opinion, a certain amount of respect for the work that they have done and both should be above the behavior they have been displaying. Whether the two of you think you have done something or not, the tit for tats, should really be beneath you. Doesnt help either image.

If I were an egomaniac as some want to believe, I would probably be worried about what everyone thinks about me and my posts. But I’m not, so I don’t.

That said, Soze, what specifically do you object to? Is it me being honest, or me being slammed for being honest?

You have nothing to apologize for. If I think you’re right I’ll tell you and if I think you’re wrong I’ll do the same. There are lots of sensitive folks on the Internet but I’m not one of them.

I’m not objecting to any of it really and thought I made myself very clear in my post. If you want to act like a child then, by all means, carry on. It doesnt help you and wont in the long run.

So, am I being a child for being honest or am I being a child for responding when slammed for being honest? I’d like to know, since as you said, it’s my life.

I will do neither. I said what I had to say, was clear in what I had to say and, that’s the end of it for me.

It’s been stimulating.

Was Richard Gaikowski affiliated with any radical groups?

Was Richard Gaikowski affiliated with any radical groups?

For a couple of years, then he reinvented himself.

I assumed Gaikowski had some link to a hippy cult of some kind given the radical nature of Good Times. Do you know if he had ties to the Diggers or any group specifically? These groups seemed to cross paths judging by the proximity of the SF locations they have been said to have frequented but the sources on this stuff can be so sketchy it’s hard for theories to gain traction. I don’t have all of the claimed addresses at my disposal but it seems like The Process Church, The Diggers, Church of Satan, Manson, distinct as they all were, must have at least brushed shoulders, but ultimately it is difficult to surmise whether any of this spirituality business had anything to do with Zodiac. I am clearly no expert on San Francisco counterculture so I’m looking for a veteran opinion. Do you believe there was any witchy-warlock influence on the Zodiac?

Hi Druzer
there is no evidence that the Zodiac was involved in any of this type of thing. Its a good question though, and one I often think about with what type of serial killer we are dealing with.

Zodiac has a lot of similarities more to the thrill killer, lovers lane shooter type. Think son of sam (but less bat shit crazy).

these types, like son of sam, tend to be loser, loner, mad at the world types with varying degrees of delusion. Howver, they tend not to be the cult type like manson. More personal issues and motivations (not religious). and with the zodiac seems like:

narcissism-I’m smarter than everyone else
anger and frustration
the thrill of killing for thrills sake
sexual frustration
need to feel important

…a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma

You say there’s no evidence Zodiac was involved in certain groups and then you immediately speculate about his motives, with zero evidence to support it.

There is no evidence Zodiac was a narcissist when not playing the "Zodiac" gimmick.

There is no evidence Zodiac was angry and/or frustrated.

There is no evidence Zodiac killed for the thrill of it.

There is no evidence Zodiac was sexually frustrated.

There is no evidence Zodiac had the need to feel important.

However, there is evidence Zodiac was a domestic terrorist, which means his motives were unlike any you can apply to traditional serial killers.

all the evidence from my points come directly from the zodiac himself in his letters, and indirectly gleaned from the circumstances from his crimes.

I’m not sure what you mean by domestic terrorist. to me that’s more along the lines of the boston marathon, Oklahoma city bombers, or san bernadino or vegas shooter,Maybe Ted Kazinsky.

zodiac is classic lovers lane Thrill Killer-Like son of Sam and Monster of Florence. No sign of overt religious (as Druzer was asking) -or as your suggesting-political motive.

I’m not sure what you mean by domestic terrorist.

They all follow the same formula:

*Commit an atrocity
*Take credit for the atrocious act in a communicate with the media
^Warn of future acts if demands are not met
*List demands

That is exactly what Zodiac did.
