Also, I think the composite looks very similar to RS — except for the nostrils. RS, to me, has the appearance of some very wide nostrils. I don’t see that in the famous composite sketch.
Dave Toschi told journalist Dave Peterson that Sullivan’s prints had been matched against the prints left at the Stine murder, and he was ruled out.
The question is now, how much trust do you put in Dave Toschi?

I guess I’m not sure. It is distressing to me that Toschi would write a fake letter to the press (I think it was a newspaper columist?). I know he was cleared of the Zodiac "I Am Back" letter, but it still kind of makes the entire investigation by him look bad.
Plus, I don’t see the real Z writing something dumb like "that pig Toschi is good." Z isn’t the Joker and Toschi isn’t Batman.
There are a few resasons to be suspicious of Det. Toschi, IMO:
Whatever his motivations were, he seemed to enjoy injecting misdirection and misinformation into the case.

Ross was too tall. No one described the Zodiac as 6’2 to 6’3 and there’s no way people would mistake the Zodiac’s height by 4 to 7 inches. During times of stress humans tend to exaggerate things by relating them as being bigger, not smaller. Zodiac was described as 5’8 to 5’10. So, according to the eyewitness descriptions, Ross cannot be the Zodiac.
