Just went through Glendale High 1959 very thoroughly. Only pics are the ones we have seen before. Classmates page 10, 99, 198 and 206 have pics or references of Ross.
That would be the actual yearbook pages 6, 95, 194, and (probably) 202.
Ross was in/on Thespians III, Key Club III, HI-Y III, Orators Club III, and Swim Team III. The only group photos that Ross is in are on page 6 and Orator’s Club page 95.
The Orator’s Club photo, which I cannot copy but is the one where Ross is kneeling wearing a vest, Ross does not look much larger than the other students, and does not look 300 lbs. Ross looks a bit older or physically mature that the other students. More developed.
The question is, where then, was Ross in 57 and 58? Binghamton Central High. He must have transferred to Glendale High as a senior.
Check off Binghamton 1957. Pics that we are already familiar with, on yearbook pages 54 and 93, where Ross was on the swim team.
Check off Binghamton 1958. No Ross.
What school did Ross go to in the year 1957-58? Not Binghamton, and not Glendale High, as far as the yearbooks say.
I’m still puzzled what Ross was to the library, an aide? A volunteer? An employee? And I consider him to be like Van Wilder, how the hell did he go to college so long? He supposedly was at RCC in one form or another from like 61 to 67 and then transferred to UC Santa Cruz in 67. How the hell does somebody go to school that long?
Could be he was going part time, and working as well — maybe with breaks in his attendance. I’m sure he wasn’t working in the library for too long of a time (considering how uncomfortable the librarians allegedly were), but he must have been a student while doing so. Still, that is 6 years in a two-year community college, prior to transferring to UC — do we know if he was accepted there, and/or if he ever showed up? There has to be some sort of records.

I think he transferred early his junior year. If you look at his club information it has that he was involved in groups in his third and fourth years, so he must have been at Glendale High School in 1957-1958 even if he’s not part of the yearbook. He might not have been there at the beginning of the year and missed his school photos (at my school we took our photos during first week registration). It would explain why his photo is not included. He probably eased his way into clubs, etc. But i’m pretty sure he spent most of 57-58 at Glendale High.
Jeff,
I think that what you are saying is that Ross was probably at Glendale High for the 57-58 school year, but that he must have missed picture day because he transferred after picture day; that Ross was in Thespians III, Key Club III, HI-Y III, Orators Club III, and Swim Team III in the 1959 yearbook, and that therefore he must have been in Thespians II, etc. in school year 57-58.
Still, I do not see him in any picture in the 1958 yearbook, including in the group photos, some of which were likely not taken on picture day (e.g. swimming). He isn’t in any list or index that I can find. And he isn’t in the 1958 yearbook for Binghamton, which means that he wasn’t there for picture day either.
For the record, I checked the other high schools in Binghamton and Glendale, but only where Ross would have been found. In the student photos according to name, in alphabetical order, or in group photos of the junior class.
Maybe tracking his siblings’ schools will help.
