Weird for sure. But does it actually mean anything, assuming, that’s what Cragle was referring to.

Ok, now a larger image. The length of the word Francisco, the San on the bottom line.

What are people’s thoughts on this image of the card which has been cleaned up.
Look closely at the letters.

The handwriting has some noteworthy similarities, IMO. In particular, I like the semi-oval on the bridge of the M. In a recent thread, the handwriting sample had multiple Ms, without any of them having that detail. I’s dotted to the right of the stem, also.

According to his obituary Chester Clark Klingel moved to Eureka after September 1993, so who had the post office box? This is the important question. Why was he investigated if he didn’t live in Eureka in 1990. Were they his daughters?

I’m not doubting this, but Blandina Sarkis Klingel died in 1993 and was buried at 575 N. Soderquist Rd, Turlock, CA. So, we’d have to assume she died in Eureka but was buried in Turlock.

The Francisco is virtually exactly the in both construction and coincidentally length, the S on the bottom line shows evidence of previously being written then gone over in felt tip. The street looks very odd in comparison with the rest of the writing, did Z ever write the word street ?

Depends if you believe the 2001 card Cragle.

I was reluctant to chime in but for me it just doesn’t look right.

Sorry I meant before this 1990 card ? Would a copycat be able to duplicate the word street from previous writings ?

From your site Richard an unaltered version of the envelope. Look at the bottom S (San), the word Street Is different from the rest of the writing. The top stroke of the E usual either joined the letter or in a lot of cases protruded ?

You know me Cragle, while I use handwriting as part of the assessment, I don’t attribute great significance to the writing, to either rule something in or out as authentic. But I understand what your saying. I believe this communication to be genuine because I think he reveals the name of Chester in it, the same as he revealed names in three other cards.

Perhaps I should clarify my view point, I am on the fence maybe yes or maybe no, I honestly don’t know. People far clever than myself would perhaps have better judgement. Unfortunately in the past peers have stated that both my strongest but also worst trait is thoroughness. It seems like it has reared its head again. To believe this is genuine would be a leap of faith, but I’m not quite ready to take that leap.

I am simply playing devils advocate, the only part of the envelope which a “copycat” would not be able to replicate would be the word Street. This happens to be the part of the writing which looks out of place and contrived.

One thing I do know though is that it’s nice to have an discussion on a topic rather than recent vitriol.
