My very first concert EVER was this one – 1977 – KISS with a little known opening act called AC/DC:

And if you ask me "damn man, how old are you?" Well, I wasn’t really old enough to go to that concert, but through some miracle and rather permissive parents, a friend and I went anyways.

Oh, and it was f**king AWESOME.

Nice. That’s like being part of rock n roll history. You do realize that you’re only hope of rescue is if QT admits seeing Mozart in concert. I’m jealous really. And to my shame I’d forgotten about Kiss (as if that’s possible). I liked them before I got into Maiden, I think. It’s all a bit hazy but the ‘Crazy Nights’ album was another one of my copied cassette mainstays.

I’m glad Ophion started this thread, it makes me nostalgic and really brings me back. It”s a shame my memory isn’t what it once was, LOL. I forgot half of where I was or what I ever did!

Et moi. :D But as you say, good thread and maybe it will start to come back to us. Maybe.

I loved me some Van Halen and Judas Priest back in the day.

I’m guessing someone around here was an Iron Maiden fan.

:D

Maiden rules!! So does Priest. I even liked the "Jugulator" album they did with Tim Owens instead of Rob Halford. Eddie Van Halen is the man!

Morf has a mullet!! SWEET! Glad I’m not the only one. I had some sort of rat tail mullet thing going on haha. Glad I was only in Jr. High at the time.

Trav, I always get a kick out of seeing Pantera’s old hair metal pics. Good thing they ditched that image! Their debut album "Cowboys From Hell" sounds very similar to an awesome band called Exhorder. Check out Exhorder if you have never heard them. Exhorder’s vocalist was also in a band called Floodgate and is also the vocalist of the legendary band Trouble.

Wow, that must have been a really cool double bill.

A Guy I know was a huge Kiss fan,and he must have had 200 Bootleg kiss Concerts on a shelf on his wall. Pretty awesome stuff.

What’s your favorite Kiss song? Calling Dr Love? Beth? Strutter? Detroit Rock City is mine. Also, kiss with or without the makeup? For me, it ain’t kiss unless they have the makeup on. And AC/DC, what more can you say about them? Just a flat out rock band through and through, they might be the only hard rock band without a single ballad, Balls out non stop rock, whether it was Bon Scott or Brian Johnson in the lead. Hard to choose a favorite, Back in Black, Dirty Deeds, my Favorite is For those about to rock. GNR did a really mean live cover of Whole Lotta Rosie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPLWW390iqo

I Love it Loud and Love Gun!! KISS with no makeup was lame. Not a fan of AC/DC, but I do like a few of their songs. The dudes voice just annoys me haha

Dokken
BTO
Van Halen

also saw lots of bands in Oakland Arena /Coliseum ..
Metallica

It does and it doesn’t I suppose. I always wonder is it that rose tinted glasses thing or a music variant of it? There certainly isn’t the ‘magic’ in it that there once seemed to be but I think that happens anyway. A time and a season for everything but there really was something special about it all. Waiting for a gig a new album, new songs and …. ah there really should be a rock camp like that Simpsons episode lol.

I saw Aerosmith in Dublin. Would love to see Whitesnake.

Another one of my long time favorites is Savatage. More copied tape adventures. My mate lent me a copy of Ride the Lightening in school and this was on the other side.

I’ve got the t-shirt of it and it still gets worn. Total Devastation rraaaarrrrr!!!! m/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKY1axoPdSc

and the title track to prove it’s really hair metal and TOTAL CHEESE but I love it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OhOm-1m3D8

Another one of my faves … Danzig. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYrbttzKcSo

Never got to see them. I did get an alternative though. No visual or audio proof unfortunately but I still have the ticket.

It was a couple of my mates who played in different bands. They hired an abandoned railway station to play in and a coach to get us all there and back. Danzig and Misfits covers was the set.

I also participated in a similar venture but I cannot remember when or even where. It’s lost in the mists of time. Similar deal, a few of us from different bands for a one off gig. It was for a few local biker gangs at some hotel and we did Ozzy and Maiden and Sabbath covers. No evidence exists but I remember what we called ourselves. "The Roar of Heavy Metal Thunder".

AC/DC. (Acca Dacca) Paid a dollar and watched them play in my school hall in 74?, yup that’s how old they are! Keilor Heights High. we could not believe Angus Young’s style, that’s how he played then that’s how he plays now. A few of the boys grew up a few suburbs away. His brother is not well at the moment.

Heavy Metal m/

That’s pretty awesome!!

Does anyone know of a good place to order patches online? I normally order from ebay, but can’t seem to find any good patches lately. I’m getting my son a jean jacket vest for Christmass, and want to sew some patches on it. So far I have a Metallica back patch, a Metallica logo patch, Misfits patch, Iron Maiden patch and Green Jello patch.

try this. Just googled it but it seems like a good selection. It’s on the general patches page but if you go to ‘patches’ menu at the side there are other options like sets n stuff.

It turns out evidence does exist. Well, a setlist anyway. Found it recently sorting through stuff in my old house and was pleasantly surprised to come across it. :D
